2025 Tata Altroz vs Rivals: Price, Dimensions & Engine Comparison

The updated Tata Altroz has officially entered the market with a refreshed design, modernised interiors, more equipment, and the same trusted set of engines. In the competitive premium hatchback segment, it faces off against the Hyundai i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, and Toyota Glanza. Here’s how the new Altroz stacks up in terms of value, size, and mechanical versatility.

Price Comparison: Altroz No Longer the Cheapest

With the facelift, the Altroz’s base price has increased by ₹24,000, bringing the starting price to ₹6.89 lakh. This puts it on par with the Glanza, which begins at ₹6.90 lakh, while the Baleno undercuts both at ₹6.70 lakh – making it the most budget-friendly option. At ₹7.04 lakh, the Hyundai i20 continues to command the highest entry price.

When looking at the top variants, the Baleno remains the most affordable with the Alpha automatic priced at ₹9.92 lakh. The Glanza’s top-spec V AMT sits at ₹10 lakh. The Altroz climbs higher with the Accomplished+ S variant priced at ₹11.49 lakh, while the sportier i20 N Line N8 Turbo DCT tops the chart at ₹12.56 lakh.

  • Baleno CNG: ₹8.44–9.37 lakh

While the Altroz keeps its earlier dimensions, it still holds its own in terms of presence. It’s the tallest in the segment at 1,523 mm, though it has the shortest wheelbase at 2,501 mm. The i20 has the longest body and wheelbase, offering better interior space.

No other car in this segment matches the Altroz’s diverse engine lineup, which includes petrol, diesel, and CNG options. Among the standard 1.2L petrol engines, the Baleno and Glanza lead in power (90hp), while the Altroz follows closely with 88hp. Hyundai’s i20 is slightly behind at 83hp.

However, Hyundai also caters to enthusiasts with its N Line turbo-petrol variant, delivering 120hp and 172Nm of torque. Tata previously offered a similar setup with its Altroz Racer (1.2L turbo-petrol, 120hp), but this variant hasn’t been confirmed for the facelifted model yet.

The 2025 Tata Altroz facelift may no longer be the cheapest option in its class, but it offers the most diverse engine lineup, including diesel and CNG choices, along with feature-rich trims and a DCT automatic option. If value and variety are priorities, the Altroz makes a compelling case. For buyers looking for a sportier driving experience, the i20 N Line stands out, while the Baleno and Glanza remain strong choices for those seeking refinement, practicality, and affordability.
