Upcoming Car and SUV Launches in April 2025

The first quarter of 2025 saw several high-profile car launches, including the Kia Syros, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Mahindra BE 6. As we transition into the second quarter, April promises to continue the momentum with an exciting lineup of new vehicles hitting the Indian market. Here’s a closer look at the key upcoming launches:

Volkswagen Tiguan R Line

Launch Date: April 14, 2025
Volkswagen is set to introduce the Tiguan R Line as its most premium SUV offering in India. This latest iteration is 30mm longer than its predecessor and boasts a refreshed design with a bolder front grille, reworked LED headlights, sportier bumpers, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a rear spoiler.

Inside, the SUV features a 10.3-inch all-digital instrument cluster, sports seats, a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen with Volkswagen’s MIB4 software, tri-zone ambient lighting with 30 color options, and over-the-air update capability.

Under the hood, the India-spec Tiguan R Line houses a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine generating 204hp and 320Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, enabling a 0-100kph sprint in 7.1 seconds and a top speed of 229kph. Expect a price tag around ₹50 lakh, as it will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU).

MG Cyberster

Launch Date: April 2025
MG’s much-anticipated Cyberster, its first all-electric sports car, is set to debut exclusively through MG Select premium showrooms. The Cyberster’s design is striking, with an upward-sweeping fascia, long bonnet, distinctive scissor doors, 20-inch alloy wheels, and an LED light bar connecting arrow-shaped taillights.

Inside, it features a futuristic cockpit with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, three additional 7-inch touchscreens, adaptive cruise control, a 360-degree camera, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

MG has showcased the high-performance 77kWh AWD variant in India, which delivers 510hp and 725Nm, enabling a blistering 0-100kph time of 3.2 seconds and a claimed range of 580km. A more affordable 64kWh RWD version producing 310hp and 475Nm with a 4.9-second 0-100kph time could be introduced based on demand.

Kia Carens Facelift

Launch Date: April 2025
Three years after its initial launch, the Kia Carens is receiving a mid-life facelift, which will be sold alongside the current model under a new name. Spy images suggest a more rugged SUV-like stance, a redesigned front fascia inspired by the Kia Syros, vertically stacked taillights connected by an LED light bar, and fresh dual-tone 16-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin is expected to receive premium materials, new switchgear, and additional tech features, including Level 2 ADAS and a 360-degree camera. Mechanically, the Carens facelift is likely to retain its existing powertrain options:

  • 1.5-litre NA petrol (115hp, 144Nm) – 6-speed manual
  • 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (160hp, 253Nm) – 6-speed iMT / 7-speed DCT
  • 1.5-litre turbo-diesel (115hp, 250Nm) – 6-speed manual / 6-speed automatic

Skoda Kodiaq

Launch Date: April 2025
Skoda’s next-generation Kodiaq brings a refreshed design, aligning with the brand’s global styling. It features sleeker headlights, a redesigned grille, door-mounted wing mirrors, and new alloy wheels. At the rear, connected LED taillights and prominent cladding add to its rugged appeal.

Inside, the SUV boasts a 13-inch infotainment screen, ambient lighting, and a fully digital instrument cluster. Powering the new Kodiaq is the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (190hp, 320Nm), paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an all-wheel-drive system.

Tata Curvv Dark Edition

Launch Date: April 2025
Following the success of its Dark Editions across the lineup, Tata Motors is set to introduce the Curvv Dark Edition, exclusively in the top-spec Accomplished trim. The changes are primarily aesthetic, with an all-black treatment inside and out.

Mechanically, it remains unchanged, featuring:

  • 1.2-litre turbo-petrol (125hp, 225Nm) – 6-speed manual / 7-speed DCT
  • 1.5-litre turbo-diesel (118hp, 260Nm) – 6-speed manual / 7-speed DCT

Expect pricing to range between ₹16.5-19.5 lakh (petrol) and ₹16.8-19.6 lakh (diesel), with a ₹40,000 premium over the standard Curvv.

Citroën Basalt Dark Edition

Launch Date: April 2025
Citroën will also introduce a Dark Edition for the Basalt coupe-SUV, as hinted by a recent teaser. This special edition is expected to feature a blacked-out exterior with dark chrome accents, exclusive badging, and updated alloy wheels. The interior will likely follow the same all-black theme.

The Basalt Dark Edition will be based on the top-spec Max trim, powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (110hp, 205Nm) with 6-speed manual and automatic options.
