Tata Punch EV: Refreshed Design and Cabin Updates Revealed in Spy Shots

The Tata Punch EV, an upcoming electric SUV, has been spotted in recent spy images, showcasing significant design updates and a revamped cabin. The test mule hints at a facelifted version of the Punch, while also providing insights into the electric variant’s features and specifications.

1. Design Updates

Based on the latest spy shots, the Punch EV is set to receive a mild design update, suggesting a refreshed look for the micro SUV. Key design elements include:

a) Front Fascia: The front bumper features design elements similar to the facelifted Nexon, along with a new connected LED DRL strip running across the front fascia, inspired by Tata’s new EV concepts.

b) Side Profile: Noticeable changes on the sides include new alloy wheels with disc brakes on all corners and ORVM-mounted side cameras, indicating the provision of a 360-degree camera system.

2. Revamped Cabin

Contrary to previous spy shots, the latest images confirm that the Punch EV will feature a revised cabin design. Expected changes include:

a) Dashboard: The existing Punch’s cabin with blue highlights will likely be replaced by a revised dashboard design, offering a fresh aesthetic.

b) Steering Wheel: The Punch EV is anticipated to feature a new 2-spoke steering wheel, as showcased on the near-production version of the Curvv at the 2023 Auto Expo.

c) Additional Features: The electric SUV might come equipped with paddle shifters for battery regeneration, a digital driver’s display borrowed from the facelifted Nexon, a touch-based climate control panel, a touchscreen infotainment system, and push-button start/stop functionality.

d) Safety Features: The Punch EV is expected to offer a comprehensive safety kit, including six airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and a reversing camera.

3. Electric Powertrain Details

The Punch EV will be Tata’s first electric vehicle based on the ALFA platform. While specific details about the electric powertrain are not yet available, it is speculated that the Punch EV might offer two battery pack options, similar to Tata’s other EV lineup. The anticipated claimed range for the Punch EV is around 300km to 350km.

4. Market Introduction and Pricing

Tata is likely to launch the Punch EV in the market soon, with an estimated starting price of Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete with the Citroen eC3 and serve as a premium alternative to the MG Comet EV and Tata Tiago EV.
