New Mercedes GLC India launch on August 9, bookings open

Mercedes-Benz India has taken the automotive market by storm with the announcement of the eagerly anticipated second-generation GLC SUV, which is all set to make its grand debut on August 9, 2023. The company has already commenced bookings for this luxurious SUV, with interested customers required to make an initial payment of Rs 1.5 lakh to secure their orders. Although some Mercedes-Benz dealers had informally opened bookings a month prior, the official bookings are now in full swing.

New Mercedes GLC: India powertrain details

The new Mercedes GLC will be available in two robust powertrain options tailored for the Indian market: the GLC 300 petrol and the GLC 220d diesel. To enhance performance and off-road capabilities, both engine variants will come equipped with the state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz 4Matic off-road technology.

With a 2.0-litre displacement, these engines promise a perfect blend of power and efficiency. Furthermore, to provide an extra boost, both powertrains will feature a 48V integrated starter motor, granting an additional 23hp.

Comparing it to its predecessor, the new GLC boasts an array of substantial improvements. It exudes an aura of luxury and opulence, with larger dimensions and a plethora of cutting-edge features that cater to the most discerning of customers.

Stepping inside, the cabin is a true masterpiece, adopting a design similar to the new C-Class. The focal point of the interior is the dual-screen setup, comprising a captivating 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an impressive 11.9-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen infotainment system, complete with the latest NT7 interface.

Mercedes-Benz India aims to deliver the new GLC to eagerly awaiting customers by late August this year. As for the pricing, the starting price for the new GLC is anticipated to be around the Rs 75 lakh mark (ex-showroom). With this competitive pricing, the GLC will go head-to-head with other prominent luxury SUVs in the Indian market, including the BMW X3, Audi Q5, Volvo XC60, Lexus NX, and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
