Audi Q8 e-tron Debuts in India as a Facelifted Version of Audi’s First Electric SUV

Audi has launched the Q8 e-tron in India, marking an electrifying debut for their latest electric SUV. The Q8 e-tron is a facelift of Audi’s first electric SUV, the e-tron, and is available in both standard SUV and Sportback coupe SUV body styles. The Q8 e-tron boasts an eye-catching design with several notable updates. The blacked-out grille surrounds extend beneath the headlights, creating a more commanding front fascia. The redesigned grille features an attractive mesh pattern and showcases Audi’s new monochrome logo. An innovative light bar below the grille projects light downwards for a striking effect.

The front bumper is reprofiled and incorporates larger air intakes, adding a sporty touch. On the sides, both the Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback flaunt 20-inch alloy wheels, while the blacked-out B-pillar proudly displays ‘Audi’ and ‘Q8 e-tron quattro’ lettering. At the rear, the redesigned bumper and new Q8 badges on the tailgate complete the sophisticated look.

Step inside the Q8 e-tron, and you’ll be greeted by a luxurious interior that maintains a similar layout to the outgoing e-tron model. The powered front seats come with memory function and offer heating, ventilation, and massage features for maximum comfort during drives. The center console features two touchscreens, a 10.1-inch unit for infotainment control and an 8.6-inch screen for managing various car functions, including HVAC controls. Audi’s renowned Virtual Cockpit Plus, a digital instrument cluster, provides all essential driving information and adds a futuristic touch to the cabin.

The Q8 e-tron boasts an array of impressive features, including a 16-speaker Bang and Olufsen speaker system, a panoramic sunroof for abundant natural light, a 360-degree camera for enhanced visibility during parking, four-zone climate control for personalized comfort, and a reliable tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) for safety.

Audi Q8 e-tron Powertrain and Battery

Powering the Q8 e-tron is a robust 114kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive range of up to 600km on the WLTP cycle. This battery energizes two electric motors, generating a combined output of 408hp and a substantial 664Nm of torque. The Q8 e-tron accelerates from 0-100kph in just 5.6 seconds, showcasing its electrifying performance capabilities.

Audi provides a 22kW AC charger with the Q8 e-tron, enabling convenient home charging, while also supporting up to 170kW DC fast charging. With the AC charger, a full charge takes approximately six hours, while the DC fast charger achieves a remarkable 10-80 percent charge in just 31 minutes. The Q8 e-tron continues to feature charging ports on both sides of the vehicle, offering charging flexibility.

Audi Q8 e-tron Rivals and Launch Timeline

With the Mercedes-Benz EQC discontinued, the Audi Q8 e-tron and Q8 e-tron Sportback’s primary competitor remains the Jaguar I-Pace (priced at Rs 1.19 crore-1.24 crore). Audi enthusiasts can eagerly anticipate the Q8 e-tron’s launch in the Indian market, expected in the coming weeks.
