New Diesel SUVs Launching in the Coming Months

Mahindra XUV300 Facelift

Mahindra’s compact SUV, the XUV300, is getting a refresh. Expect cosmetic changes aligning it with newer Mahindra models, and an upgraded cabin resembling the XUV400 EV’s. Anticipate significant feature enhancements, possibly including twin 10.25-inch screens. The engine remains the same 117hp, 1.5-litre diesel with manual and AMT options. The availability of the 110hp and 131hp 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engines is yet to be confirmed.

Tata Curvv

  • Launch: Mid 2024
  • Engine: 1.5-litre diesel

Tata’s upcoming midsize SUV-coupe, the Curvv, is expected to offer four powertrain options, with the diesel variant following the initial EV launch. Powered by the Tata Nexon’s 1.5-litre unit, it’s anticipated to deliver 115hp and 260Nm of torque, coupled with a 6-speed manual transmission (with possible AMT option).

Mahindra Thar 5 Door

  • Engine: 2.2-litre diesel

The Thar expands its lineup with a 5-door variant, retaining the 2.2-litre diesel engine from the 3-door model. Expect 132hp output, with gearbox options including 6-speed manual and automatic. Spy shots reveal unique design elements and an upgraded interior with added features like a dashcam and rear AC vents.

Hyundai Alcazar Facelift

  • Launch: Mid 2024
  • Engine: 1.5-litre diesel

Hyundai’s seven-seat Alcazar, based on the Creta, is due for a facelift. Styling updates will mirror the refreshed Creta, with interior enhancements for added features. The 116hp, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine remains, paired with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. Additionally, the 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine will also be available.

MG Gloster Facelift

  • Expected Price: Rs 40 lakh-44 lakh
  • Launch: End 2024
  • Engine: 2.0-litre diesel

MG’s flagship SUV, the Gloster, receives a much-needed refresh after four years. Expect exterior updates including a new grille, light units, and beefier cladding, along with interior enhancements for additional features. The 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engine remains unchanged, with 161hp in 2WD form and 216hp in 4WD configuration, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
