Indian sports streaming platform FanCode has secured the rights to stream Formula 1 (F1) in India for the next two years, covering the 2024 and 2025 seasons. This acquisition marks a significant shift for Indian F1 fans, providing them with an affordable alternative to access their favorite sport.
Transition from Previous Broadcasting Agreement
Previously, F1’s broadcasting agreement with Sport Sports, which included streaming on Hotstar, expired at the end of the 2022 season, leaving a void in TV broadcast coverage in India. F1TV filled this gap but at a considerable annual fee of Rs 2,999. However, with the new deal with FanCode, Indian fans now have a far more accessible option.
Comprehensive Coverage
FanCode will offer comprehensive coverage, streaming all F1 practice, qualifying, sprint events, and the main Grands Prix. Additionally, the platform will also stream F2 and F3 races, catering to a broader spectrum of motorsport enthusiasts.
Ian Holmes’ Statement
Ian Holmes, director of media rights and content creation at Formula 1, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership with FanCode, highlighting the platform’s expertise in serving existing fans while reaching new audiences in India. He emphasized the collaborative effort to produce premium content that showcases the spectacle of F1.
Subscription Plans
FanCode offers various subscription plans to suit different preferences. The race weekend pass, covering all sessions for one round, is priced at Rs 49, while a full-season subscription costs Rs 599. Additionally, an unlimited live stream pass, encompassing various sports beyond F1, is available for Rs 999 annually or Rs 199 monthly.
Where to Watch FanCode
Subscribers can enjoy live races on FanCode’s website, as well as their Android and iOS apps. Moreover, dedicated apps are available for Android TV, JioTV, and Amazon Fire TV for TV streaming. The service allows streaming on up to four devices simultaneously per account.
Availability of F1TV
While F1TV remains available in India, it comes at a higher cost, with a yearly subscription priced at USD 29.99 or approximately Rs 2,480 and a monthly subscription at $3.99 or around Rs 330. Despite the higher price, F1TV offers additional benefits such as live timing data, pre- and post-race analysis, driver onboard cameras, and archival content.
