In the near future, the subcompact SUV segment is poised for a wave of refreshed models, including the highly anticipated Mahindra XUV300 facelift. Recently, spy shots of the camouflaged prototype surfaced once again, revealing a closer-to-production version of the update. Scheduled as the SUV’s first significant refresh since its debut in 2019, the upcoming XUV300 facelift promises several notable enhancements.
Exterior Updates
The spy shots offer an exciting preview of the forthcoming changes to the XUV300. The front fascia, which is now more visible due to the reduced camouflage, showcases redesigned LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), an updated grille, and fresh bumper styling. The rear end of the test mule features connected LED tail lights, presenting a more modern appearance. While the SUV’s silhouette is expected to remain consistent, a set of newly designed alloy wheels is anticipated.
Interior Revamp
The interior of the XUV300 facelift is also set to receive a comprehensive overhaul. A significant highlight is the large floating touchscreen unit, a departure from the current integrated dashboard design. Additionally, the central air conditioning vents have been repositioned beneath the touchscreen. These changes contribute to a more modern and user-friendly cabin layout.
Enhanced Features
The XUV300 facelift is projected to introduce a range of new features and amenities. In addition to the upgraded touchscreen system, the SUV is rumored to offer a fully digital driver’s display, wireless phone charging, cruise control, and ventilated front seats. Notably, the existing model already boasts equipment such as a single-pane sunroof, cruise control, and automatic climate control. In terms of safety, Mahindra might provide the updated subcompact SUV with an extensive suite of features, including six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), and a 360-degree camera.
Powertrain Continuity
The powertrain options for the XUV300 facelift are likely to retain the existing petrol and diesel engine choices. These comprise a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine generating 110PS of power and 200Nm of torque, as well as a 1.5-liter diesel engine producing 117PS of power and 300Nm of torque. Both engines can be paired with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
It’s worth noting that the current XUV300 also features a T-GDi (turbo-petrol) engine producing 130PS of power and 250Nm of torque, but this is exclusively available with the 6-speed manual transmission. There is speculation that Mahindra might replace the existing AMT with a torque converter for improved performance and refinement.
Expected Launch and Competition
Enthusiasts and prospective buyers can anticipate the debut of the facelifted XUV300 in early 2024, with a starting price estimated around Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the refreshed XUV300 will contend with a lineup of formidable rivals in the subcompact SUV segment, including the Tata Nexon facelift, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
