Kia Motors is set to expand its Indian portfolio with the introduction of three new models by the end of 2024. The facelifted Kia Sonet, which recently had its global debut, is now open for bookings. Retaining its engine lineup, the 2024 model will feature manual, iMT, and automatic transmission choices, including the return of the diesel-manual variant. Notable enhancements include Level 1 ADAS, a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and aesthetic updates to its interior and exterior, positioning it as a strong competitor in the compact SUV segment against rivals like Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue. Expect a moderate price increase over the previous model.

Kia’s flagship electric vehicle, the EV9, is slated for an Indian launch before mid-2024. Initially unveiled with a 77.4kWh battery, the production model will feature a larger 99.8kWh, 800V battery, boasting a WLTP range of up to 563km. Available in RWD and AWD configurations, the EV9 combines impressive power with cutting-edge technology, including an expansive digital panel with multiple screens. As a CBU (Completely Built Unit), its price is expected to start at ₹1 crore, positioning it among premium competitors like the BMW iX and Audi Q8 e-tron.

Kia Carnival (2024)

  • Engine: 2.2L diesel

The upcoming Kia Carnival, or KA4, represents the fourth generation of this popular MPV. Unveiled at Auto Expo 2023, it sports a rugged, SUV-inspired design with a larger overall footprint than its predecessor. Inside, the minimalist design is highlighted by dual 12.3-inch displays. While it’s available in various seating configurations globally, the Indian market offerings are yet to be confirmed. The 201hp 2.2-litre diesel engine is expected to continue.

Kia Clavis (AY)

  • Price Estimate: ₹10 lakh – ₹20 lakh
  • Launch Date: Early 2025
  • Engine: 1.0L turbo-petrol/TBA

The Kia Clavis, codenamed AY, is an exciting new addition set to debut by the end of 2024, with its launch scheduled for early 2025. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, this sub-4-metre SUV will likely feature the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Sonet and offer a strong hybrid powertrain option, a first for Kia in India. Its design, inspired by the Kia Soul, aims to provide a robust, SUV-like presence with improved legroom and boot space compared to the Sonet.

These upcoming models showcase Kia’s commitment to expanding its presence in India with a diverse range of vehicles, catering to the evolving needs and preferences of Indian consumers.
