Kia EV6 Facelift: Same Price, Fresh Design, Enhanced Range

Kia has introduced a mid-cycle update for the EV6, originally launched in India in June 2022. The facelifted version, available in the GT-Line all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant, is priced at Rs 65.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India)—the same as its predecessor. However, the refreshed EV6 brings notable exterior and interior updates, along with a larger battery offering improved range. Here’s a closer look at what’s changed.

Exterior: A More Striking Presence

The new EV6 sports a sharper and more aggressive front fascia. The headlamps are now positioned lower in the bumper, which itself has a more angular design. A standout feature is the redesigned LED DRL signature, now spanning the width of the car and wrapping around the headlamps, replacing the outgoing model’s winged design. On the side, the only change is the introduction of new 19-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the curved tail-lights receive a new LED pattern, and the dual-tone bumper has been subtly reworked for a fresh look.

Interior & Features: Subtle Refinements

Inside, the biggest change is the new three-spoke steering wheel, replacing the previous flat-bottomed two-spoke design. Kia has also added a fingerprint sensor to the steering wheel, enabling registered drivers to start the car without a key. The dashboard layout remains largely the same, with slight modifications to the housing of the 12.3-inch dual screens for infotainment and the instrument cluster. Additionally, the centre console now features a textured finish instead of the previous glossy surface, reducing fingerprint smudges.

The feature list remains familiar, with highlights including wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a premium 14-speaker Meridian sound system, vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, and over-the-air (OTA) software updates.

Powertrain & Performance: Increased Range

Under the hood, the biggest update is a larger 84kWh battery pack, replacing the previous 77.4kWh unit. This upgrade extends the WLTP-certified range from 528km to 581km—a significant 53km increase. Power and torque figures remain unchanged at 325hp and 605Nm, respectively. However, Kia has discontinued the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant in India, making the AWD model the only option. Interestingly, the 0-100kph acceleration time is now 5.3 seconds, marginally slower than the previous 5.2 seconds for the AWD version.

Pricing: More Value at No Extra Cost

Despite the improvements, the updated EV6 GT-Line AWD retains its Rs 65.90 lakh price tag, making it a compelling choice for buyers. While the absence of the RWD variant raises the entry-level cost, the enhanced styling and extended range ensure better value without a price hike. For EV enthusiasts, this facelifted version offers a more appealing package without any additional financial burden.
