Upcoming Car and SUV Launches in India – March 2025

The Indian automobile industry kicked off 2025 on a high note, with the Auto Expo in January showcasing exciting innovations, followed by a series of new car launches in February. As the first quarter comes to a close, March promises to bring even more excitement with the debut of several highly anticipated vehicles.

Volvo XC90 Facelift

Launch Date: March 4, 2025

After nearly a decade in the Indian market, the Volvo XC90 is set to receive a long-awaited facelift. Drawing inspiration from the all-electric EX90, the updated XC90 features a refreshed front grille with diagonal slats, slimmer LED headlights, redesigned bumpers, darker tail lamps, and newly styled alloy wheels.

Inside, Volvo has upgraded the cabin with an 11.2-inch Google-based touchscreen infotainment system, offering seamless over-the-air updates. Under the hood, the XC90 facelift retains its 2.0-litre turbo-petrol mild-hybrid engine, delivering 250hp and 360Nm of torque through an 8-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels.

Pricing details remain under wraps, but expect a slight premium over the current model. The XC90 facelift will go head-to-head with the BMW X5, Mercedes-Benz GLE, and Audi Q7 in the luxury SUV segment.

Mercedes-Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series

Launch Date: March 17, 2025

Mercedes-Maybach is set to introduce the SL 680 Monogram Series in India, offering an ultra-luxurious take on the sporty SL Roadster. Boasting Maybach’s signature dual-tone paint scheme, a distinctive vertical-slatted grille, and multi-spoke alloy wheels, the SL 680 exudes elegance and exclusivity.

Step inside, and you’re greeted with plush white Nappa leather seats, a white dashboard with satin silver accents, and a more refined exhaust system for a quieter, more sophisticated ride. However, performance hasn’t taken a backseat—powering this luxury roadster is a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that churns out 585hp and 800Nm of torque. Coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, the SL 680 can sprint from 0 to 100kph in just 4.1 seconds.

While pricing hasn’t been confirmed, expect a premium over the Mercedes SL 55 Roadster, which is currently priced at Rs 2.35 crore (ex-showroom).

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara

Launch Date: March 2025

Marking its entry into the EV space, Maruti Suzuki is set to launch its first electric vehicle for the Indian market—the e Vitara. Heavily influenced by the eVX concept from 2023, the e Vitara flaunts a bold and upright stance, sleek LED headlights, chunky body cladding, and a connected LED light bar at the rear. It will come equipped with stylish 18-inch alloy wheels as standard.

The cabin takes a significant leap in quality, offering premium features like a 10.25-inch floating infotainment system, a fully digital 10.1-inch instrument cluster, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a fixed panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. Safety is also a priority, with seven airbags, rear disc brakes, a 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, and Level 2 ADAS technology.

The e Vitara will be available with two LFP battery pack options: a 49kWh variant producing 143hp and a larger 61kWh version generating 173hp. Both versions offer 192.5Nm of torque, while the larger battery promises an MIDC-rated range of up to 500km.

Expected to be priced between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh, the e Vitara will take on rivals like the MG ZS EV, Tata Curvv EV, and Mahindra BE 6.
