Design Comparison

Since the Urban Cruiser Taisor is a badge-engineered product, it shares almost all its body panels with the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, albeit with subtle differences. The changes include a redesigned trapezoidal front grille with a honeycomb pattern, and a slightly restyled front bumper. The LED DRLs at the front feature a new linear design as opposed to the three cubes seen on the Fronx.

The lighting elements in the tail lights have also been tweaked, but just like the donor SUV, are connected together with a full-width light bar. Moreover, the Taisor also gets a new set of 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Colour options on the Taisor include Cafe White, Enticing Silver, Sportin Red, Lucent Orange, and Gaming Grey. The Fronx is offered with Nexa Blue, Arctic White, Splendid Silver, Grandeur Grey, Earthen Brown, Opulent Red, and Bluish Black. Dual-tone options are also available with the turbo versions of both the SUVs.

No feature revisions have been made to the Taisor as against the Fronx. Both the cars are equipped with a free-standing 9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, a 360-degree camera, a heads-up display, wireless charger and more. Safety suite on both the compact SUVs is taken care of by six airbags, electronic stability program (ESP), hill-hold assist, ABS with EBD, and ISOFIX child seat anchorages.

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor carries over Maruti Suzuki Fronx’s 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol (90hp), and 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbo petrol (100hp) engine options. The former is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox along with an optional 5-speed AMT, while the latter can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The 1.2-litre, NA petrol engine is also available with a factory-fit CNG kit.
