Toyota Innova Hycross Drive Review – 10 Days of Hybrid Excellence | Car Quest

After spending 10 days behind the wheel of the Toyota Innova Hycross, we can confidently say this hybrid MPV is more than just a people mover – it’s a tech-savvy, fuel-efficient, and surprisingly fun-to-drive machine. Here’s our detailed take on living with the Hycross for over a week.

Design & Presence

From the moment you see it, the Hycross has a much more SUV-inspired look compared to the traditional MPV vibe of the older Innova Crysta. The bold grille, sleek LED DRLs, and muscular lines give it road presence. Our test vehicle in the Sparkling Black finish turned heads everywhere we went.

Interior Comfort & Space

Step inside, and it’s all about comfort and premium touches. Toyota has nailed the interior design with a clean, modern dashboard, a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and soft-touch materials. The captain seats in the second row, complete with ottomans, make long drives an absolute breeze.
Over the 10 days, we took the Hycross through city commutes, highway runs, and even a quick weekend getaway. It comfortably seated 6 adults, with ample luggage space thanks to the flat floor and flexible third-row folding.

Hybrid Performance

The highlight, of course, is the 2.0L TNGA hybrid powertrain. It’s incredibly refined and offers a seamless blend of petrol and electric power. In city traffic, the EV mode made crawling a silent affair, while the petrol engine kicked in smoothly when needed.
On highways, the Hycross maintained triple-digit speeds effortlessly. Power delivery is linear, and the e-CVT complements the hybrid system well. We averaged 19-21 km/l, which is impressive for a vehicle of this size.

Driving Dynamics

This is not a corner-carving enthusiast’s machine, but it’s surprisingly agile for its size. The steering is light, perfect for city use, and high-speed stability is rock solid. The suspension setup absorbs potholes with ease, making it an ideal family tourer.

Features & Tech

Loaded with features like:
•Panoramic sunroof
•Powered tailgate
•Ventilated front seats
•ADAS (adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, etc.)
•Wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay
Toyota has made sure the Hycross keeps up with the demands of modern tech-savvy buyers.

Verdict

After living with the Toyota Hycross for 10 days, it’s clear this is one of the most compelling MPVs/hybrids in its segment. Whether it’s a daily driver or a long-distance family cruiser, the Hycross delivers on all fronts – space, comfort, efficiency, and reliability.
If you’re looking for a premium, practical, and eco-conscious ride, the Innova Hycross deserves a top spot on your list.
