1. Fresh Exterior Design and Dimensions

The upcoming launch of the new Swift in India on May 9 brings a generational overhaul to the beloved hatchback after six years. While maintaining its overall design philosophy, the next-gen Swift sports sharper styling elements. Upfront, a redesigned radiator grille, new headlamps, and fog lamps enhance its appeal. Notably, the Suzuki emblem now finds its place atop the front bumper. On the sides, a prominent shoulder line, conventional rear door handles, and updated alloy wheel design mark the changes. At the rear, new C-shaped pattern tail-lamps, a tailgate-mounted rear camera, and a revised bumper add to its allure. The new Swift sees a slight increase in dimensions, being 15mm longer, 40mm narrower, and 30mm taller, while retaining the same wheelbase of 2,450mm.

2. Revamped Interior

Recent spy shots confirm a revamped cabin akin to the Fronx, Brezza, and Baleno models. The new interior showcases a free-standing infotainment unit, restyled central air-con vents positioned below the screen, updated HVAC switchgear replacing circular knobs, and a mildly updated instrument cluster. Alongside the redesigned dashboard, the new Swift introduces fresh upholstery to elevate the interior experience.

3. Enhanced Equipment Offering

Expect a slew of new features including a wireless phone charger, rear AC vents, LED fog lamps, and a new 9-inch touchscreen equipped with connected technology. Popular amenities like cruise control, auto climate control, push-button start/stop, and steering-mounted controls remain, along with electrically adjustable and retractable wing mirrors.

4. Improved Safety and Technology

Safety takes a leap forward with the inclusion of six airbags as standard across all variants, along with Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and hill start assist. This represents a notable upgrade from the outgoing model, which offered dual airbags even on higher trims.

5. Upgraded Engine for Better Fuel Efficiency

The new Maruti Swift debuts an all-new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z12E engine, generating 82hp and 112Nm of torque, slightly less than the current K-Series engine. However, fuel efficiency receives a significant boost with an ARAI-rated figure of 25.72kpl, a remarkable improvement of over 3kpl compared to its predecessor.

By incorporating these substantial changes, the new Maruti Swift promises an exciting evolution in performance, comfort, and safety, further solidifying its position as a top contender in the hatchback segment.
