MG Motor India is ready to enter the premium electric MPV space with the launch of the MG M9 on July 21, 2025. First showcased at the Auto Expo earlier this year, the all-electric M9 has already created buzz for its futuristic design, loaded features, and impressive performance credentials. With bookings already underway, MG is aiming squarely at the luxury end of the MPV segment.
Expected Price and Rivals
The MG M9 is expected to carry a price tag of around ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom). This places it between the Kia Carnival, which tops out at ₹63.91 lakh, and the ultra-luxurious Toyota Vellfire, priced between ₹1.22 crore and ₹1.32 crore. It will be sold through MG’s Select premium showroom network, underscoring its upscale positioning.
Exterior Design: Large, Bold, and Futuristic
The M9 boasts a commanding road presence thanks to its generous proportions – it measures 5.2 metres in length, 2 metres in width, and 1.8 metres in height, with a 3.2-metre wheelbase. It outclasses its rivals in size, offering more space and presence.
Design-wise, it gets a split LED headlamp setup with sharp DRLs, a bold trapezoidal lower grille, and tasteful chrome embellishments. Side highlights include 19-inch alloys with self-repairing ContiSeal tyres, a prominent Z-shaped chrome strip along the windows, and powered sliding rear doors. The connected vertical LED taillamps and chrome-accented rear bumper complete the futuristic aesthetic.
Interior: Business-Class Luxury
Step inside the MG M9, and it instantly feels like a premium lounge on wheels. The three-row layout is dressed in rich cognac brown leather and suede upholstery. The minimalist dashboard houses a 12.23-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 7-inch digital driver’s display, and a two-spoke multifunction steering wheel.
The floating centre console frees up floor space, enhancing practicality. However, it’s the second-row experience that truly stands out. Passengers here get electrically reclinable captain’s chairs with cooling, heating, and massage functions, along with fold-out ottomans, touchscreen controls, and individual entertainment displays. There’s also ambient lighting in 64 colours, manual sunshades, and a ‘boss mode’ that allows the front passenger seat to slide forward for more legroom.
The third row isn’t an afterthought either – it can seat three and comes with AC vents and USB-A ports. With all seats up, boot space stands at 945 litres, which expands to 1,720 litres with the third row folded. There’s also a 55-litre frunk under the bonnet.
