The Grand Vitara was introduced as “a new breed of SUVs” and was meant to change the SUV market in India. In CNG mode, the Grand Vitara S-CNG has a 1.5-liter Next-Gen K-series Dual Jet Dual VVT engine that gives it a maximum power output of 64.6kW@5500rpm and a maximum torque of 121.5 Nm@4200rpm. The Grand Vitara S-CNG has a 5-speed manual transmission and a great fuel economy of 26.6 km/kg*.

MSIL S-CNG Technology
MSIL S-CNG vehicles are safe, perform well, last a long time, and use little fuel. They are tested at MSIL’s world-class Research and Development facility. The S-CNG vehicles have two Electronic Control Units (ECU) that work together and an Intelligent Injection System. This gives them an air-to-fuel ratio that makes them run better and use less gas. The pipes and joints in the S-CNG system are made of stainless steel to prevent corrosion and leaks in the whole CNG structure. Integrated Wire Harnesses are used to prevent short-circuiting, and a Microswitch makes sure that the vehicle doesn’t start during the CNG fuel-filling process.
