Maruti Suzuki Eeco Sales Hit the 10-Million-Unit Mark

Maruti Suzuki said that 10 lakh people have bought its popular Eeco MPV. The Maruti Suzuki Eeco has been on the market since 2010, and since then it has gotten several updates.

The Eeco was first sold in India in 2001 under the name Versa. The MPV was then brought back as the Eeco in 2010 with a lower starting price, and since then, it hasn’t looked back.

  • Maruti Eeco is now in its 13th year of production.
  • Got a big mechanical update recently.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco still remains a popular choice

The Eeco is Maruti’s entry-level MPV, and many Indian buyers have chosen it. The MPV was first sold with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine and a five-speed manual transmission. There was also an option for a CNG engine from the factory. As pollution rules got stricter over the years, this powertrain was updated again.

Maruti recently gave the Eeco a major update by giving it a more modern K-series 1.2-liter engine with Dual VVT. This engine is also used in other Maruti Suzuki cars sold in India. Along with the new engine, the Eeco also got a new steering wheel and a fully digital instrument cluster, just like the Alto K10, S-Presso, and Celerio.

Maruti Suzuki says that the updated Eeco gets 19.71kpl in petrol-only mode, which is better than the 16.11kpl that the old engine got. The S-CNG models, on the other hand, use 26.78kg/km of fuel instead of 20.88kg/km. The fuel efficiency of the Tour V models has been slightly improved. In petrol-only mode, it gets 20.20kpl, and in CNG mode, it gets 27.05kg/km.

Maruti Suzuki Eeco: rivals

The Eeco costs between Rs 5.22 lakh and Rs 6.51 lakh right now (ex-showroom, Delhi). Even now, it doesn’t have power steering in any of its versions. Even though the MPV is very simple, it is still a popular choice in the segment and has no direct competitor. The only three-row MPV that comes close to it in size and price is the Renault Triber, which is also better equipped and has more space.
