India’s Top 10 Best-selling Cars of March 2023: Maruti Continues to Reign Supreme

Maruti is still the leader, with 7 of the top 10 cars being made by the company. Tata Motors Nexon and Punch come in fifth and ninth, while Hyundai’s Creta comes in sixth. Except for the WagonR and the Dzire, all of the cars have positive sales growth from one year to the next. In terms of MoM, four cars are going down. Maruti Dzire is the only car in the top ten whose sales went down both years over year and month over month.

Maruti Swift is the best-selling car in March 2023

In March, Maruti Swift sold 17,559 cars, which is a 28.89% increase from the same month last year. In the same time period last year, 13,623 units were sold. In March, Swift’s share of sales in the top 10 was 12.33%. MoM growth is down by 4.63 percent compared to February 2023, when 18,412 units were sold.

WagonR is in second place. In March, it sold 17,305 units. Compared to March of last year, when 24,634 units were sold, YoY growth is down by -29.75%. WagonR had a 12.15 percent share of sales in the top ten. With 16,889 units sold in February 2022, month-to-month growth is 2.46 percent.

Maruti Brezza, which sold 16,227 units in March, is third on the list. Compared to March of last year, when 12,439 units were sold, YoY growth is 30.45%. In March, the percentage of sales is 11.40%. Brezza’s growth month over month is 2.79 percent, based on the 15,787 units sold in February 2023. Brezza is the most popular SUV for the second month in a row, selling more than Tata Nexon.

Next comes the Maruti Baleno, which sold 16,168 units in March. Compared to last March, when 14,520 units were sold, YoY growth is 11.35 percent. Baleno’s share of sales among the top ten is 11.36 percent. Compared to February 2023, when 18,592 units were sold, MoM growth is down by 13.04%.

Tata Nexon comes in at number five, with 14,769 units sold in March. Compared to March of last year, when 14,315 units were sold, YoY growth is 3.17 percent. Nexon’s sales share in the top ten is 10.37%. With 13,914 units sold in February 2023, month-to-month growth is 6.14 percent.

Creta has the highest growth year-over-year and month-over-month among the top 10

Hyundai Creta is sixth, with 14,026 units sold in March. Compared to March of last year, when 10,532 units were sold, YoY growth is 33.18 percent. 9.85% of all sales come from the top ten. Creta’s growth over the last month is 34.59%, which is once again the highest in the top 10. In February 2023, 10,421 units of the Creta were sold.

The Maruti Dzire comes in second, selling 13,394 units in March. YoY growth is down by -28.08% compared to March of last year, when 18,623 units were sold. The percentage of sales is 9.41%. Dzire MoM growth is also down by -20.26 percent compared to February 2023, when 16,798 units were sold.

Maruti Eeco is eighth on the list, with sales of 11,995 units in March. Compared to March of last year, when 9,221 units were sold, growth is 30.08 percent. 8.42% of sales is the share. With 11,352 units sold in February 2023, Eeco’s month-to-month growth is 5.66%.

Tata Punch is ranked ninth, with 10,894 units sold in March. Compared to March of last year, when 10,526 units were sold, YoY growth is 3.50 percent. The sales share is 7.65%. Compared to February 2023, when 11,169 units were sold, MoM growth is down by 2.46 percent. Maruti Grand Vitara comes in at number ten, selling 10,045 units in March. The share of the top ten is 7.05 percent. With 9,183 units sold in February 2023, the growth from one month to the next is 9.39%.
