What’s New in the Hyundai Exter CNG?
The Exter Hy-CNG Duo, as it is called, features two smaller CNG cylinders instead of one large unit, providing more boot space. This new technology has led to a price hike of ₹7,000 for the Exter S CNG and SX CNG variants. Additionally, the CNG version is now available in the recently launched Knight edition, priced at ₹9.38 lakh.
Powertrain and Specifications
The Exter CNG is powered by the same 1.2-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine as the standard model. On CNG, it produces 69 hp and 95.2 Nm of torque. The vehicle comes exclusively with a 5-speed manual gearbox and boasts a claimed fuel efficiency of 27.1 km/kg.
The Exter CNG is Hyundai’s first model to feature the dual-cylinder setup. The Grand i10 Nios CNG and the Aura CNG are expected to adopt this technology soon. The dual-cylinder CNG setup is already available in Tata’s Altroz, Tiago, Tigor, and the Exter’s direct competitor, the Punch.
