Honda to Launch New Midsize SUV in India – Global Unveiling on June 6, 2023

Honda India is all set to launch a new midsize SUV in India, which may be named the Honda Elevate. The global unveiling of the SUV will take place on June 6, 2023, in New Delhi.

Design and Features of the New Honda SUV

According to spy shots, the new Honda SUV will have proper SUV features with a strong nose and upright proportions. It will come with chunky cladding, muscular wheel arches, and LED headlights for top variants. The tail-lights will look similar to the latest-gen Honda products like the new-gen WR-V.

Dimensions, Platform, Powertrain, and Features

The new Honda SUV will measure between 4.2-4.3 meters and will share the platform and engines with the fifth-generation City. It will be powered by Honda’s new 1.5-liter petrol engine, which also powers the City sedan. Gearbox options are likely to be a 6-speed manual and a CVT for the 1.5-petrol, and there will be no diesel. The SUV will come with a large 10.2-inch free-standing touchscreen and a competitive features list.

Competition and Pricing

The new Honda SUV is aimed at competing with popular midsize SUVs like the Creta and Seltos, as well as newer contenders like the Grand Vitara, Hyryder, the Taigun, and the Kushaq. Honda plans to produce up to 8,000 units of the SUV a month in India, with a large chunk going for exports. The SUV will be priced at a slight premium over its rivals, somewhere between Rs 12 lakh-19 lakh, and will go on sale in August 2023.

Conclusion

The new Honda midsize SUV will be a serious attempt by the company to enter the ever-growing Indian midsize SUV market. It will have a segment-rivalling wheelbase and interior space, and is expected to turn Honda’s fortunes around in India.
