Citroën Basalt X Pre-Bookings Open: What to Expect from the New Top Trim

Citroën has officially begun accepting pre-bookings for its upcoming Basalt X variant at a token amount of ₹11,000. While the brand is yet to reveal the complete details, teaser images and recent updates suggest that the Basalt X will follow the same formula as the C3 X, bringing in premium cosmetic tweaks and added equipment.

Positioned as the New Range-Topper

The Basalt X is expected to take the flagship spot in the Basalt lineup, just as the C3 X does in its range. This means buyers can look forward to subtle but noticeable enhancements in design, materials, and features, making the SUV-coupé feel more upmarket.

Teased Interior Upgrades

Early previews show a refreshed cabin theme with bronze accents on the dashboard and AC vents, along with a distinctive new black-and-tan upholstery option. A patterned dashboard insert is also likely to be part of the cosmetic update, adding a touch of sophistication.

Feature Additions on the Cards

Though Citroën hasn’t revealed the full list, the Basalt X could mirror the C3 X’s feature upgrades. That means equipment such as keyless entry, push-button start/stop, a 360-degree camera, and new exterior paint shades may be introduced, including the possibility of a fresh standout colour option.

Engine & Mechanical Details

Under the hood, the Basalt X will continue unchanged with Citroën’s 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. It delivers 110hp and 190Nm of torque with the 6-speed manual, while the 6-speed torque-converter automatic version bumps torque up to 205Nm. Performance remains identical to the standard Basalt trims.

Expected Price Premium

With the additional cosmetic and feature enhancements, the Basalt X is expected to command a premium of around ₹10,000–₹25,000 over the current top-spec variant.

Booking Details

Customers can now reserve the Basalt X through Citroën dealerships or via the company’s official website. Deliveries and a full price announcement are likely to follow in the coming weeks.
