BGauss RUV 350 Launched: Starting at Rs 1.10 Lakh

BGauss has introduced the RUV 350, a new electric scooter priced between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom).

Key Features and Specifications:

  • Wheel Size: 16-inch wheels on both ends.
  • Storage: Limited underseat storage of 15 liters in the highest variant.
  • Variants:
    • i EX: Base variant with a segmented LCD display. Lacks Bluetooth, cruise control, hill hold, and OTA updates.
    • EX: Mid variant with a 5-inch color TFT display, providing notification alerts and navigation prompts.
    • Max: Top variant claiming a 120 km real-world range in Eco mode, equipped with a 3 kWh LFP battery.

The i EX and EX variants have a 90 km range with a 2.3 kWh battery. All variants feature the ‘InWheel Hyperdrive’ motor, similar to the Chetak’s swingarm-mounted unit, and share a top speed of 75 kph.

Performance:

  • The 130mm drum brakes at both ends have been noted to provide insufficient stopping power.
  • The large 16-inch wheels, akin to those on step-through scooters in Southeast Asia, offer a comfortable ride.

Comparison and Competition: The BGauss RUV 350 competes with established electric scooters like the Ather 450X, TVS iQube, and Bajaj Chetak. How it stands against these competitors in terms of performance and appeal remains to be seen.

Priced between Rs 1.10 lakh and Rs. 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom), the RUV 350 brings a mix of innovative features and practical design to the electric scooter market.
