BMW has introduced the updated 2024 M2 Coupe in India with a starting price of ₹1.03 crore (ex-showroom). The refreshed model boasts increased power, subtle design upgrades, additional color options, and the latest technology enhancements.
Boosted Performance
The updated M2 now features BMW’s enhanced 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six engine, producing 480hp — a 20hp improvement over its predecessor. Torque output has also increased by 50Nm, delivering 600Nm across a wide range of 2,650-6,130rpm.
This extra power translates into quicker acceleration. The 8-speed automatic variant achieves 0-100kph in just 4 seconds, while the 6-speed manual version clocks 4.2 seconds. The 0-200kph times have also improved by 0.6 seconds, with the automatic and manual variants completing it in 12.9 and 13.7 seconds, respectively. The electronically limited top speed of 250kph can be extended to 285kph with the optional M Driver’s package.
Refined Design and New Colors
While the overall design remains consistent, the M2 gets fresh color options, including Sao Paulo Yellow, Fire Red, Portimao Blue, and Skyscraper Grey. It rides on stylish double-spoke alloy wheels, standard in black, with an optional silver finish. These measure 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear.
Upgraded Interiors and Tech
The interior gains a sporty flat-bottom steering wheel with an optional Alcantara trim. The cabin is equipped with BMW’s latest iDrive system, offering a more advanced digital interface for enhanced user experience.
Segment Positioning
In India, the M2 occupies a niche space with no direct competitors. However, enthusiasts may compare it with the Mercedes-AMG A 45 S hatchback, which delivers a respectable 421hp but falls short in outright performance and dynamics.
BMW’s latest M2 Coupe promises an exhilarating driving experience with its blend of power, precision, and modern features, making it a compelling choice for performance car enthusiasts.
