Toyota has introduced a new mid-spec automatic variant to its Rumion MPV lineup. The Rumion G, previously available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox, now offers the option of a 6-speed automatic transmission. Priced at Rs 13 lakh (ex-showroom), this automatic variant is Rs 1.40 lakh more expensive than its manual counterpart. Bookings for the Rumion G AT have commenced for an amount of Rs 11,000.
What’s New with the Rumion G AT?
Previously, the automatic gearbox option was limited to the base-spec S and top-spec G trims. However, Toyota has expanded this option to include the mid-spec G trim as well. With this update, the G AT sits Rs 1.06 lakh above the S AT and Rs 73,000 below the top-spec V AT.
Features of the Rumion G AT
The features list for the G AT remains consistent with its manual counterpart. It includes two-tone alloy wheels, dual-tone seat fabrics, keyless entry and go, automatic climate control, a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, front fog lights, and Toyota’s in-car connectivity suite. Notably, the G variant lacks equipment such as a leather-wrapped steering, cruise control, side airbags, and a rear camera.
Powertrain and Specifications
The Toyota Rumion is powered by Maruti’s 103hp, 137Nm, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. In CNG-spec, the engine produces 88hp and 121.5Nm, and is available only with the manual gearbox option.
Toyota has also reopened bookings for the Rumion CNG variant, which is offered on the base-spec S trim. The company had previously halted bookings in September due to overwhelming demand, resulting in waiting periods of up to a year in certain areas.
Pricing and Competition
The Rumion MPV is priced between Rs 10.44 lakh and Rs 13.73 lakh (ex-showroom, India). It competes with models like the Maruti Ertiga, XL6, and the Kia Carens.
