Tata Motors Announces Three New Launches in the Coming Months

Tata Motors had a remarkable 2023, launching several new cars and SUVs while achieving excellent sales performance. For 2024, the Indian carmaker is gearing up to launch at least three new models, aiming to sustain its impressive momentum. The lineup includes the expansion of the Nexon range with CNG-powered variants, a sportier version of the Altroz, and an all-new model, the Curvv. Here’s what to expect from these upcoming launches.

Tata Nexon iCNG

A New Era of CNG-Powered Vehicles

Tata Motors is set to innovate once again with the Nexon iCNG, marking the introduction of India’s first factory-made turbocharged CNG-powered car. Building on the success of the Tiago and Tigor iCNG, which were the first CNG-automatic models in India, the Nexon iCNG will feature the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine found in the standard petrol model.

Features and Pricing

The Nexon iCNG will come with a standard manual gearbox, with an AMT option likely to be available. The pricing for the Nexon iCNG is expected to be approximately Rs 1 lakh higher than the equivalent petrol variant, making it an attractive option for eco-conscious buyers seeking performance and efficiency.

Tata Altroz Racer

Sportier Design and Enhanced Performance

The Tata Altroz Racer, poised to compete with the Hyundai i20 N Line, is set to launch soon. Spotted in testing, the Altroz Racer features a more powerful 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, delivering 120hp—10hp more than the Altroz iTurbo. It will also include a 6-speed manual gearbox, compared to the 5-speed in the iTurbo.

Distinctive Features

The Altroz Racer stands out with its dual-tone orange and black paint scheme, twin racing stripes, ‘Racer’ badges, and a slightly revised grille. Inside, it boasts a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, ventilated front seats, a 360-degree camera, six airbags, ESC, a heads-up display, and a voice-assisted sunroof, enhancing both safety and convenience.

Tata Curvv

A Bold New Midsize SUV

Tata’s eagerly awaited midsize SUV, the Curvv, is set to launch later this year around the festive season. Initially arriving as an EV, the Curvv will utilize Tata’s Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture, offering a range of approximately 450-500km. This will position the Curvv ahead of its competitors, such as the Creta EV, Maruti eVX, and Toyota’s EV derivative.

Powertrain Options and Features

The petrol and diesel variants of the Curvv are expected to go into production around September, with launches planned for late 2024 or early 2025. The petrol version will feature Tata’s new 125hp, 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo engine, while the diesel variant will share the Nexon’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be available. Additionally, a CNG-powered Curvv is anticipated in the future.

Cutting-Edge Technology

The Curvv will come equipped with advanced features to rival its segment, including 360-degree cameras, 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and driver displays, and cooled seats. While it’s unclear if ADAS will be included, the Curvv is set to impress with its innovative technology and sleek, coupe-like roofline.

With these exciting new launches, Tata Motors is poised to continue its strong performance into 2024, offering a range of vehicles that blend innovation, performance, and sustainability.
