Suzuki Access 125 Gets Single-Channel ABS: Price, Features, and Everything You Need to Know

Suzuki Motorcycle India has introduced single-channel ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) on its popular Access 125 scooter, marking a significant milestone in the 125cc segment. With prices starting at Rs 92,328 (ex-showroom, Delhi), the Access 125 becomes one of the most affordable scooters in India to offer this advanced safety technology.

Key Highlights

The ABS-equipped Access 125 brings several noteworthy aspects to the table. It now holds the distinction of being the most budget-friendly scooter with ABS technology in the Indian market. The safety feature is available exclusively on two premium variants that also include the Ride Connect system, with one offering a TFT display. The scooter’s powertrain and mechanical components remain untouched from the previous version.

Safety Takes Center Stage

Suzuki has equipped the Access 125 with single-channel ABS on its Ride Connect and Ride Connect TFT variants, making it a pioneer among mainstream 125cc scooters. Until now, ABS has primarily been found on larger displacement scooters exceeding 150cc, including models like the TVS Ntorq 150, Aprilia SR 175, Yamaha Aerox 155, and Hero Xoom 160, where regulations mandate this feature.

By voluntarily adding ABS to a smaller-capacity scooter, Suzuki has set a new benchmark for safety in the affordable scooter segment. This proactive approach is likely to influence other manufacturers to incorporate similar safety technologies in their offerings.

Performance and Specifications

Under the bodywork, the Access 125 maintains its proven formula. The scooter continues to be powered by a 124cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that delivers 8.4 horsepower and 10.2 Newton-meters of torque. This reliable powerplant has been a cornerstone of the Access’s success in the Indian market.

Pricing and Variants

The ABS feature is exclusively available on the top two trim levels. The Ride Connect ABS variant is priced at Rs 92,328, while the range-topping Ride Connect TFT ABS comes in at Rs 98,378 (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

These ABS-equipped versions command a premium of Rs 3,601 and Rs 4,501 respectively over their non-ABS counterparts. Despite the additional cost, the Access 125 remains competitively positioned as one of the most accessible entry points to ABS technology in the Indian two-wheeler market.

Market Position

The Suzuki Access 125 has consistently ranked among India’s best-selling 125cc scooters and serves as Suzuki Motorcycle India’s highest-volume product. This latest update reinforces the company’s commitment to enhancing rider safety without significantly impacting affordability.

With the introduction of ABS in the mass-market 125cc segment, Suzuki has potentially opened the door for a new era of safer commuting in India’s value-conscious two-wheeler market.
