Skoda’s performance-oriented Octavia RS made a roaring comeback to India earlier this year, but it didn’t take long for the car to vanish from the order books. The Czech brand had allocated just 100 units for the first batch, all of which were snapped up on the very first day of bookings — even before the official price announcement. Unsurprisingly, this left a large number of enthusiasts disappointed. However, there’s some good news: Skoda is now working to bring a second batch of the Octavia RS to India, expected to arrive in early 2026.
Enthusiastic Response and Future Plans
According to Skoda India’s brand director, Ashish Gupta, demand for the new Octavia RS far exceeded expectations. Speaking during the car’s media drive, he revealed that the model has received around 350 bookings so far — more than three times the available stock. “I will definitely be working on getting more cars to India. Apart from the ones already allocated, the remaining people are on our communications list. Our endeavour will be to get more cars early next year,” Gupta said.
Before reopening the order books, Skoda will prioritise existing customers who have already placed bookings but couldn’t secure a unit from the initial batch. Gupta clarified, “The first right of refusal should go to those who’ve already put their money on the car. But we also want to make it available to more enthusiasts within the 2,500-unit import regulation and pricing framework.”
Skoda Octavia RS: Price, Specs, and Performance
The Skoda Octavia RS is priced at ₹49.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and is imported to India as a completely built unit (CBU). Deliveries of the first batch are currently underway.
Under the hood sits a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 265hp and 370Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Power is sent exclusively to the front wheels. This setup is shared with the Volkswagen Golf GTI, a hot hatch that also witnessed instant sell-outs in India and is expected to make a return in another limited batch soon.
The Octavia RS stands out as one of the most engaging performance sedans on sale in the country. It combines everyday usability with exhilarating performance — a blend that has earned it a cult following among driving enthusiasts.
No Direct Rivals, Niche Yet Coveted
At its current price point, the Octavia RS doesn’t face any direct competition in India. The only car that comes close in terms of spirit and positioning is the Volkswagen Golf GTI. With its premium cabin, sharp dynamics, and European build quality, the Octavia RS occupies a unique niche — offering a true performance experience without crossing into luxury car territory.
What to Expect Next
If Skoda’s plans materialise, the second batch of the Octavia RS could arrive in India in early 2026, offering a fresh opportunity for enthusiasts who missed out the first time. The company’s move also signals a growing appetite in India for enthusiast-focused models, even in higher price segments.
For those who value performance, precision, and pedigree, the Octavia RS continues to be one of the most desirable cars in its class — and its swift sell-out only reinforces its cult status.
