New Kia Carnival Sees Year-Long Wait in India with Over 3000 Bookings

The recently launched Kia Carnival has already accumulated over 3,000 bookings in India, securing impressive demand despite a starting price of ₹63.9 lakh (ex-showroom). Less than 20 days since its debut, the luxury MPV now has a waiting period close to one year, marking an unexpectedly strong reception for the premium model.

Kia India offers the Carnival in a single, fully-loaded variant with two exterior color options and a standard seven-seat layout. This simplified lineup is a strategic shift from the previous model, which saw nearly 90% of its sales in top-end trims, primarily in black or white. Kia had anticipated modest sales, aiming to streamline the offering for a niche market; however, consumer interest has surpassed expectations. This is particularly noteworthy given the new model’s significant price increase over its predecessor, which sold around 3,500 units in 2022.

Currently, Kia assembles the Carnival at its Ananthapur plant in Andhra Pradesh from semi-knocked down (SKD) kits, with a production capacity of about 300 units per month. In response to the robust demand and zero cancellations post-price announcement, Kia India has approached its headquarters to increase kit supplies for enhanced production.

Priced at ₹63.9 lakh (ex-showroom), the Carnival occupies a unique space in India’s market, positioned between the Toyota Innova Hycross (₹19.77–30.98 lakh) and the ultra-premium Toyota Vellfire (₹1.22–1.32 crore). Deliveries of the Carnival have begun in a phased rollout, giving eager customers a chance to experience Kia’s newest offering in luxury MPVs.
