JSW MG Motor India is set to make a bold statement at the Auto Expo 2025 with one of the largest pavilions of the event. The carmaker has already teased the launch of its Cyberster electric sportscar and the M9 electric MPV. Now, MG has confirmed two additional models for the showcase: the MG 7 Trophy and the iM L6 sedans. Here’s what to expect from each.
MG Cyberster: Electrifying Performance Meets Heritage
The MG Cyberster will be the star attraction at the event. Previously previewed in India, the Auto Expo will mark the sportscar’s price announcement, making it MG’s first sportscar for the Indian market. Designed on a dedicated electric platform, the Cyberster features a 77kWh battery pack with dual motors delivering 510hp and 725Nm of torque. This setup enables all-wheel drive and an exhilarating 0-100kph sprint in just 3.2 seconds. The Cyberster boasts a range of 580km (CLTC) on a single charge and embodies a modern yet nostalgic design inspired by MG’s storied racing legacy.
MG M9: A Premium Electric MPV
Rebranded as the M9 for India, this luxury MPV was earlier showcased as the Mifa 9 at the 2023 Auto Expo. Unlike its earlier appearance, MG now plans to launch the M9 in March 2025 through its premium ‘Select’ channel. The M9, powered by a 90kWh battery, offers a front-wheel-drive configuration with a range of 430km (WLTP) and a motor output of 245hp and 350Nm. Measuring an impressive 5.2 meters in length, the MPV features 7- or 8-seat configurations, with second-row captain’s chairs equipped with massage and ottoman functions. Expected to be locally assembled, the M9 will likely carry a price tag around ₹65 lakh (ex-showroom).
iM L6: Pioneering Solid-State Battery Technology
The iM L6, developed by MG’s parent company SAIC in collaboration with Alibaba and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, represents cutting-edge EV innovation. Debuting globally in 2024, this sleek sedan features a solid-state battery, offering improved safety, faster charging, and higher energy density. The top variant uses a 133kWh battery with a remarkable range of 998km (CLTC). Additionally, it supports ultra-fast charging, adding 400km of range in just 12 minutes. Inside, the L6 offers a futuristic cabin with a 26.3-inch panoramic display, a vertical 10.5-inch screen, and a yoke-style steering wheel. Advanced tech like ultra-long-range lidar and high-performance NVIDIA and Qualcomm chips further enhances its appeal.
MG 7 Trophy: A Sporty Fastback
Rounding out MG’s new lineup is the MG 7 Trophy, a performance-oriented fastback based on the standard MG 7 sedan. This dynamic model is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 257hp and 405Nm, paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. In contrast, the standard MG 7 features a smaller 1.5-litre engine. The Trophy variant combines its striking low-slung design with a premium interior, featuring a twin-screen layout and sports seats that exude athletic elegance.
What Else to Expect
In addition to the new models, MG will also showcase its existing lineup, including popular offerings like the Hector series and the Windsor. With such an extensive display, MG Motor India aims to leave a lasting impression at the Auto Expo 2025.
