Mercedes-AMG G 63 Facelift Launched in India at ₹3.60 Crore

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the updated AMG G 63 in India, with a starting price of ₹3.60 crore (ex-showroom). This refreshed model brings subtle aesthetic tweaks, enhanced features, and important mechanical updates.

What’s New in the Mercedes-AMG G 63 Facelift?

The exterior changes are refined yet impactful. The front bumper now sports vertical slats, and the radiator grille gets a dark chrome finish. The A-pillars have been slightly rounded, and a new lip has been added to the windscreen to boost aerodynamic efficiency and lower noise and vibration. These adjustments are inspired by the development of the electric G-Class. At the rear, buyers can opt for a carbon fiber-finished spare wheel cover.

In a nod to convenience, the G-Class now features keyless entry for the first time—a seemingly small change but one that required considerable effort to incorporate without altering the classic door handles.

Interior and Technology Upgrades

The interior receives a significant overhaul, with the AMG G 63 now equipped with the latest MBUX infotainment system, similar to the one found in the GLS facelift. This includes dual 12.3-inch displays for instrumentation and infotainment, marking the first time the system is fully touch-enabled. The setup also supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the G 63 features an 18-speaker, 760-watt Burmester sound system and a new three-spoke AMG performance steering wheel.

The revamped “control center” on the dashboard offers easier access to critical off-road features. Other luxury touches include temperature-controlled cup holders, a wireless charging pad, and a choice of 31 unique MANUFAKTUR upholstery options and 29 exclusive paint finishes.

Mild-Hybrid Powertrain for Enhanced Performance

The updated AMG G 63 is powered by the same 4.0-liter V8 engine (M177) that delivers 585hp and 850Nm of torque, but now with the addition of 48V mild-hybrid technology. This system provides a 22hp boost during acceleration. The engine is paired with a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, complete with paddle shifters.

Newly available is the AMG Active Ride Control, a suspension system without anti-roll bars, first seen on the AMG SL 63. This technology is part of the AMG Performance package, which also raises the top speed to 240 km/h. The facelifted model accelerates from 0-100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds and now features launch control for the first time.

Off-Roading Capability Remains Intact

The G 63 retains its impressive off-road credentials, boasting 229mm of ground clearance, a water-wading depth of 700mm, a 31-degree approach angle, and stability on inclines of up to 35 degrees. Additionally, it now offers optional 22-inch alloy wheels with a center-locking mechanism.

Delivery Timeline in India

Mercedes-Benz India has announced that the first batch of 120 units is already reserved. Customers placing orders now can expect their AMG G 63 deliveries by the third quarter of 2025.
