Maruti Suzuki has reached a significant milestone with its Dzire sedan, surpassing the 30 lakh production mark. This achievement highlights the car’s enduring popularity in the compact sedan segment. Since crossing the 20 lakh mark in 2019, it has taken the Dzire 5.6 years to add another 10 lakh units. The journey from 10 to 20 lakh took over 4 years, while reaching the first 10 lakh units required 6 years.
This milestone places the Dzire among Maruti Suzuki’s elite lineup, alongside the Alto, Swift, and Wagon R, all of which have surpassed the 30 lakh production milestone.
A Proven Legacy Since 2008
Launched in 2008 at an initial price of ₹4.49 lakh, the Dzire has consistently dominated its segment. As per JATO Dynamics, the Dzire accounts for one out of every two compact sedans sold in India. Its appeal has been bolstered by multiple generations, with the fourth-generation model debuting in November 2024, featuring a new petrol engine, enhanced safety features, and updated interiors. The current model is priced between ₹6.79 lakh and ₹10.14 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
Strong Export Presence
The ‘Made-in-India’ Dzire is not just a domestic success; it is also a global contender. Exported to 48 countries across Latin America, Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East, Maruti Suzuki has shipped approximately 2.6 lakh units internationally. In FY2024, it was the company’s second most-exported passenger vehicle.
Competitive Segment Leader
In the sub-4-metre sedan category, the Dzire faces competition from the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Tigor. Despite the rivalry, it continues to lead the market with its value-for-money proposition, strong brand reputation, and extensive service network.
The Dzire’s impressive production milestone underscores its role as a cornerstone of Maruti Suzuki’s lineup and a preferred choice for millions of customers worldwide.
