Jaguar Land Rover has reintroduced the V8 engine to the Defender lineup in India, following its brief discontinuation in 2024. Priced from ₹1.39 crore (ex-showroom), the 2025 Defender V8 is available across three body styles: 90, 110, and 130. While the complete pricing details are awaited, this marks a significant update for the iconic SUV.
Expanded V8 Offering
Previously reserved for the top-spec Defender trims, the V8 engine is now offered in two additional variants: X-Dynamic HSE and X. The 5.0-liter V8 produces 426hp and 610Nm of torque and is paired with advanced features like the Terrain Response system and electronic air suspension as standard. All models come equipped with 20-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires.
Notably, the higher-output 518hp version of the 5.0-liter V8, which was available in 2024, has been discontinued. The lineup still includes the 2.0-liter petrol engine, exclusive to the 110 X-Dynamic HSE, and a 3.0-liter diesel engine offered across all three body styles in X-Dynamic HSE, X, and Sedona Edition trims.
Premium Features and Configurations
The Defender V8 is packed with high-end features such as:
- 14-way powered, heated, and cooled front seats with memory function
- An 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system
- Digital driver’s display
- Configurable ambient lighting
- 360-degree cameras
- Panoramic sunroof
Optional upgrades include a Meridian sound system, a refrigerated front console compartment, and a soft-close tailgate. Bundled packages, such as the Cold Climate, Advanced Off-Road, and Family Comfort Packs, add further customization options.
The Defender 130 variant offers seating for seven or eight passengers, with layouts including a 2+2+3 configuration featuring ventilated captain chairs in the middle row or a 2+3+3 setup for greater versatility.
