KTM 890 Duke R, Adventure R launched in India starting at Rs 14.5 lakh

KTM has launched its 890 Duke R and 890 Adventure R in India, with prices starting at ₹14.5 lakh for the 890 Duke R and ₹15.8 lakh for the Adventure R. These models, arriving through the CBU (Completely Built-Up) route, mark KTM’s latest entries into India’s premium mid-size motorcycle market.

KTM 890 Adventure R

The 890 Adventure R is known as one of the most off-road-capable mid-size adventure bikes available today. With a slim design and a distinctive low-slung fuel tank that wraps around the engine, it’s engineered for rugged trails. The bike is equipped with a fully adjustable WP suspension, offering 240mm travel in the front and rear, and weighs 200 kg (dry). Adding to its off-road orientation, the Adventure R has a tall seat height of 880mm, making it a competitive choice against models like the Triumph Tiger 900 Rally (₹15.95 lakh) and the BMW F 900 GS (₹13.75 lakh).

KTM 890 Duke R

While KTM recently debuted the new 990 Duke at EICMA, the 890 Duke R has now made its way to India. Powered by a 121hp version of the 889cc parallel-twin engine, the 890 Duke R delivers more power than the 105hp variant found in the Adventure R. Performance-wise, it comes with high-grade Brembo Stylema front calipers and adjustable WP suspension. At ₹14.5 lakh, it enters the competitive streetfighter segment, rivaling the Triumph Street Triple RS (₹11.8 lakh) and Ducati Monster SP (₹15.95 lakh).

Demo Mode: Try-Before-You-Buy Features

KTM is also introducing a unique “Demo Mode” for both models. This mode allows riders to experience a full suite of electronic aids and features for the first 1,500 km, such as multiple ride modes (including the optional Rally mode), traction control, slide control, a bi-directional quickshifter, and cruise control. After this trial period, riders can choose to purchase the features they found most useful and unlock them permanently at the dealership, though KTM has yet to disclose the specific costs for these add-ons.

The 890 Duke R and Adventure R will be available at KTM’s new flagship stores across seven cities, with initial availability in Bangalore and Pune. This launch reinforces KTM’s commitment to providing versatile, high-performance motorcycles tailored to both street and off-road enthusiasts in India.
