KTM 390 Adventure New vs. Old: Key Upgrades in Engine, Features & Weight

The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure brings a host of significant changes over its predecessor, making it a more capable and feature-rich machine. With updates to the engine, styling, and cycle parts, this latest iteration promises improved performance and better off-road capabilities. Here’s a detailed comparison of the key differences between the new and old models.

More Powerful Engine

The biggest mechanical upgrade comes in the form of the new 399cc engine, which is the same unit found in the latest KTM 390 Duke. This revised motor delivers 46hp and 39Nm of torque, marking an increase of 2.5hp and 2Nm over the previous 373cc powerplant. The added power and torque should translate to a more engaging riding experience, both on and off the road.

Enhanced Features & Updated Design

While the previous-generation 390 Adventure was already well-equipped, the 2025 model raises the bar with advanced electronics and improved hardware. Notable additions include adjustable suspension, multiple riding modes, 21/17-inch tubeless wire-spoke wheels, cornering ABS, traction control, and—for the first time on a sub-500cc adventure bike in India—cruise control.

In terms of styling, the new model sports a sleeker and more aggressive design, making it look even more purposeful. The stepped single-piece seat replaces the split-seat setup from the previous version, enhancing comfort and ergonomics.

Lower Seat Height, Improved Suspension & Added Weight

One of the most noticeable changes is the lower seat height, now set at 830mm—25mm less than before—making the bike more accessible to a wider range of riders. Despite this, ground clearance has been increased to an impressive 227mm, thanks to the new suspension setup, which offers 200mm of front travel and 205mm at the rear—both significantly more than the outgoing model.

The fuel tank capacity remains unchanged at 14.5 liters, but the 2025 model is slightly heavier, tipping the scales at 183kg—6kg more than before.

Launch & Variants

The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure is set to launch in India soon, alongside a more road-focused variant, the 390 Adventure X. With its host of improvements, the new model is poised to be an even stronger contender in the adventure touring segment.
