Kia PV5 EV Unveiled: Brand’s First All-Electric Van

Kia has officially revealed the PV5, its first-ever electric van, ahead of its global debut on February 27 at the brand’s 2025 EV Day. The PV5 is also the first model in Kia’s innovative Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) lineup—a modular skateboard architecture designed to support a range of electric multi-purpose utility vehicles for both private and commercial use.

Kia PV5: Exterior and Variants

The PV5 will be available in two configurations: Passenger and Cargo. While both share the same fundamental design, the Cargo version eliminates rear seats to maximize storage space.

The Passenger variant showcases a sleek, futuristic aesthetic. Its front fascia features high-mounted angular LED strips that function as indicators, while the main headlight units sit lower on the bumper. A centrally positioned charging port is flanked by a front-facing camera above and a large radar sensor below.

From the side, the PV5 Passenger sports contrasting blacked-out pillars, bonnet, and upper fenders, complemented by chunky side mirrors and an expansive glasshouse. Plastic cladding surrounds the lower half for a rugged look. The rear design differs between the two variants: the Passenger model has a single lift-up tailgate, whereas the Cargo version features dual side-opening rear doors for easier loading and unloading.

Kia PV5: Interior and Features

Kia has yet to fully unveil the PV5’s interior, likely reserving the big reveal for EV Day. However, teaser images hint at a dual-screen setup for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, along with sturdy grab handles on the A-pillars—a practical touch for a utility-focused EV.

Market Positioning and Future Plans

The Kia PV5 is positioned as a direct rival to the Volkswagen ID. Buzz in global markets. While its India launch remains uncertain, more details are expected at Kia’s 2025 EV Day event.
