Kawasaki KLX 230 S Set for India Launch on October 17

Just a week after the initial buzz, Kawasaki has confirmed the India launch of its KLX 230 S dual-sport motorcycle, scheduled for October 17. The company recently began teasing the new model on its social media channels, hinting at an off-road-themed release. While the teasers don’t explicitly reveal the model, the rugged imagery strongly suggests it’s the much-anticipated KLX 230 S.

The KLX 230 is known for its simplicity and versatility, excelling as a dual-sport motorcycle. The version set to hit Indian roads, the KLX 230 S, is designed to be more accessible, featuring reduced suspension travel and a lower seat height. Despite these adjustments, the bike still offers impressive off-road capabilities with 239mm of ground clearance and front and rear suspension travel of 198mm and 220mm, respectively. The seat height stands at 843mm, and though tall, the seat’s slim design is tailored for off-road comfort.

In terms of weight, the KLX 230 S tips the scales at 133kg in the U.S. However, the Indian variant is likely to be slightly heavier due to the inclusion of emissions compliance components and ABS.

Powering the KLX 230 S is a 233cc, air-cooled, two-valve single-cylinder engine paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The engine is expected to deliver 17-20hp, positioning the KLX as a direct competitor to the Hero Xpulse 200.

Pricing is projected to hover around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom), making it a compelling option for adventure enthusiasts seeking an entry-level off-road machine.
