Honda NX500 launched at Rs 5.90 Lakh

Honda has recently launched the eagerly anticipated NX500 in India, with an introductory price of Rs 5.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), following recent reports of dealers accepting pre-bookings. This new model is available in a choice of three striking colors: white, black, and red. Customers can expect deliveries to start from February 2024.

The heart of the Honda NX500 is its powerful liquid-cooled, 471cc, parallel-twin engine, delivering a robust 47.5hp and 43Nm of torque. This engine is coupled with a smooth 6-speed gearbox, enhanced by a slip and assist clutch, ensuring a refined riding experience.

The NX500’s chassis features a diamond frame, which is supported by a high-quality suspension setup from Showa, including a USD fork and a preload-adjustable monoshock. Its fuel tank capacity is an impressive 17.5 liters, and even when full, the bike maintains a manageable weight of 196 kg, which is 3kg lighter than the CB500X, the model it supersedes.

For braking, the NX500 is equipped with Nissin calipers, which act on twin 296mm discs at the front and a single 240mm disc at the rear, complemented by dual-channel ABS for enhanced safety. It rides on cast alloy wheels, sized 19-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear, aligning with its adventurous spirit.

One notable upgrade from the CB500X is the NX500’s modern 5-inch TFT dashboard, which offers smartphone connectivity for navigation data and notification updates. Another significant feature is the switchable traction control system, adding an extra layer of customization and safety for riders.

In terms of pricing, the Honda NX500 is positioned closer to the Kawasaki Versys 650, priced at Rs 7.77 lakh, rather than its direct competitors like the Royal Enfield Himalayan (Rs 2.85 lakh-2.98 lakh, ex-showroom, Chennai) and the KTM 390 Adventure (Rs 2.81 lakh-3.61 lakh). The NX500 is now available for booking at all HondaBigWing dealers, heralding a new chapter in Honda’s adventure biking segment in India.
