Honda NX500 E-Clutch Launched in India at Rs 7.44 Lakh: Easier Gear Shifts, Same Adventure DNA

Honda has expanded its premium adventure motorcycle lineup in India with the launch of the Honda NX500 E-Clutch variant at an ex-showroom price of Rs 7.44 lakh. The biggest highlight of the update is Honda’s advanced E-Clutch technology, which allows riders to shift gears without manually operating the clutch lever.

While the new tech adds a modern touch to the middleweight ADV, the rest of the motorcycle remains mechanically unchanged. Bookings for the NX500 E-Clutch are now open across authorised Honda BigWing dealerships in India.

What is Honda E-Clutch Technology?

Honda’s E-Clutch system is designed to make riding more convenient, especially in city traffic and long-distance touring conditions. The setup uses electronic actuators to automatically engage and disengage the clutch during gear shifts, stopping, and moving off.

Unlike a fully automatic transmission, riders still need to operate the gear lever manually, preserving the feel of a conventional motorcycle. Honda has also retained the physical clutch lever, allowing riders to switch to manual clutch control whenever desired.

The technology was previously seen on the CB650R and CBR650R globally and is now making its way to the NX500 adventure tourer.

Honda NX500 E-Clutch: Engine and Performance

Powering the NX500 E-Clutch is the same trusted 471cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces:

  • 47hp at 8,500rpm
  • 43Nm of torque at 6,500rpm

The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, now integrated with the E-Clutch system for smoother shifts. Despite the additional technology, the weight increase is minimal, with the motorcycle now tipping the scales at 199kg — just 3kg heavier than the standard version.

Honda continues to focus on reliability and ease of ownership, making the NX500 one of the more approachable middleweight ADV motorcycles in the segment.

Suspension, Brakes and Hardware

The hardware package remains unchanged and continues to offer a balanced mix of touring comfort and light off-road capability.

Key Mechanical Highlights:

  • USD front forks
  • Rear monoshock suspension
  • 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels
  • Twin 296mm front disc brakes with radial Nissin calipers
  • 240mm rear disc brake
  • Dual-channel ABS
  • Switchable traction control

The NX500 still uses a cable-operated throttle and keeps electronics simple, avoiding complex riding modes and excessive rider aids.

Features and Design

Honda has retained the NX500’s clean adventure-tourer styling with no cosmetic changes for the E-Clutch version. The motorcycle continues to feature:

  • 5-inch TFT instrument console
  • Rugged bodywork with upright ergonomics
  • Durable switchgear
  • Slim adventure-ready design

The bike is available in two colour options:

  • Pearl White
  • Matte Black

Price and Rivals

The Honda NX500 E-Clutch is priced at Rs 7.44 lakh (ex-showroom), making it Rs 1.11 lakh more expensive than the previous standard version.

At this price point, the NX500 competes with models like:

While it may not be the most affordable option in the segment, the NX500 appeals to riders looking for Honda’s proven reliability, refined twin-cylinder engine, and now the added convenience of clutch-free shifting.
