Honda has introduced the latest generation of the Amaze, but like its predecessor, it doesn’t include a factory-fitted CNG option. However, buyers can now equip their Amaze with a CNG kit through a dealer-facilitated process, ensuring greater flexibility for those seeking a petrol-CNG variant.
Key Highlights of the CNG Option:
- Available for Private Buyers: The CNG conversion is exclusive to manual transmission (MT) variants for private buyers.
- RTO-Approved Installations: Conversion will be carried out at RTO-authorized centers in collaboration with Honda dealerships.
- Expected Delivery Timeline: Deliveries for CNG-equipped Amaze models are anticipated to begin by the end of December.
Dealer-Level CNG Conversion Process
Unlike competitors such as the new Maruti Dzire, which offers a factory-installed CNG kit, Honda has opted for a dealership-enabled approach. Partnering with RTO-approved CNG fitment centers, Honda dealerships will facilitate conversions on petrol variants of the Amaze.
Customers purchasing a petrol Amaze and opting for CNG will undergo the following process:
- Conversion is carried out at certified centers partnered with Honda dealers.
- Manufacturer warranty remains intact after signing the necessary agreements post-conversion.
- Post-installation, dealers will update the vehicle’s registration with the RTO to reflect the new petrol-CNG fuel type.
The conversion is expected to cost around ₹1 lakh, although the exact price may vary depending on state taxes and local regulations.
Performance and Powertrain Details
The Honda Amaze is powered by a 1.2-liter, 90hp petrol engine. While the CNG kit will result in a minor reduction in power output, this is standard for CNG-converted vehicles. Currently, the CNG option is available only for manual transmission variants.
Pricing and Availability
The Honda Amaze is priced between ₹8 lakh and ₹10.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India), depending on the variant. Test drives for the new model are set to begin soon, with standard petrol model deliveries starting later this month. CNG-converted variants will be ready for delivery by December-end.
Honda’s decision to offer a dealer-level CNG solution provides an alternative for buyers prioritizing fuel efficiency without compromising on warranty or after-sales support.
