BYD India is gearing up to launch the Sealion 7, its premium coupe-SUV, by March 2025. Ahead of its official price reveal, the vehicle is set to debut at the Auto Expo 2025, commencing on January 17. Alongside the Sealion 7, BYD will showcase its current lineup, including the Seal sedan, Atto 3 SUV, and the BYD eMax 7 MPV.
Positioned Above the BYD Seal Sedan
The Sealion 7, already available in China and select European markets, is designed to compete as a more accessible alternative to the Tesla Model Y globally. Featuring design elements borrowed from the Seal sedan, the Sealion 7 boasts sleek headlamps, connected tail lights, and a more aggressive bumper design at both ends. Inside, the coupe-SUV highlights a modern, tech-driven cabin, including a signature rotating touchscreen, a hallmark of BYD vehicles. Measuring approximately 4.8 meters in length, the Sealion 7 is offered in FWD and RWD configurations in international markets.
Cutting-Edge Platform and Battery Technology
Built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 Evo architecture, the Sealion 7 features the innovative Blade battery system. It is available with two battery options—82.5kWh and 91.3kWh—delivering a range of up to 502 km.
Expected Pricing and Market Competition
In India, the Sealion 7 will be positioned above the BYD Seal sedan, which is priced at ₹41 lakh (ex-showroom). While it won’t face direct competition, the SUV will rival premium EVs like the Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Further details about the India-specific model’s specifications and features will be unveiled during its debut at the Auto Expo.
Expanding Presence in India
BYD India also plans to expand its showroom network, increasing its footprint from 27 cities to 40 by the end of 2025.
Stay tuned for updates as BYD India prepares to bring the Sealion 7 to Indian roads.
