Mercedes-Benz India is poised to unveil the eagerly anticipated new Maybach GLS 600 and the AMG S 63 4MATIC E Performance on May 22. While the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 receives subtle yet notable updates, the AMG S 63 makes a striking return with a revamped avatar.
New Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600: Enhanced Luxury and Performance
The refreshed Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 retains its signature vertical chrome slats in the grille, now subtly enlarged for added presence. Alongside, a redesigned front bumper and newly crafted 22-inch wheels further elevate its aesthetic appeal. Despite these updates, the opulent cabin layout remains consistent, albeit with a redesigned steering wheel. Luxurious features such as Manufaktur leather interior, dual-screen displays, rear infotainment screens, a 27-speaker Burmester sound system, and ambient lighting continue to adorn the interior.
Under the hood, the 2024 Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 is likely to retain the potent twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine, augmented by a 48V starter-generator integrated into the nine-speed automatic gearbox. This powerhouse delivers 557hp and 730Nm of torque, with an additional 22hp and 250Nm courtesy of the 48V electric system.
New Mercedes-AMG S 63 E Performance: Unprecedented Power and Efficiency
The latest iteration of the Mercedes-AMG S 63 boasts an updated version of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine, accompanied by a rear-axle-mounted asynchronous electric motor and a 13.1kWh lithium-ion battery. This configuration results in an astonishing combined power output of 802hp and a colossal 1,430Nm of peak torque, establishing it as the most potent S-Class ever.
Furthermore, the inclusion of a motor and battery pack grants the new S 63 an impressive electric-only range of 33km. It also features advanced technology such as AMG Ride Control+ suspension with air springs and variable damping control, along with AMG Active Ride Control stabilization and rear-axle steering for enhanced maneuverability and aerodynamic efficiency.
Expected Pricing and Availability
The current Maybach GLS 600 is priced at Rs 2.96 crore, with the updated version anticipated to exceed the Rs 3 crore mark due to its enhancements. Meanwhile, the AMG S 63 4MATIC+ E Performance is expected to carry a price tag ranging from Rs 3 crore to 3.5 crore. Both models will be imported to India as completely built units (CBUs), promising uncompromised luxury and performance for discerning enthusiasts.
