The official Ferrari distributor in Delhi, Select cars, has brought the mid-rear-engine, two-seater Spider-inspired Ferrari 296 GTS to the market. The price of the plug-in hybrid is 6.24 crore. The supercar gets a new engine type that joins the brand’s 8- and 12-cylinder engines: a 663-cv 120° V6 engine paired with a 122-kW (167-cv) electric motor.
This is the first time that a six-cylinder engine will be put into a Ferrai road car. The engine has a total power output of 830 cv and gives the car a unique sound. The name of the supercar comes from the total amount of space it takes up (2.992 l) and the number of cylinders it has (GTS).
In all-electric eDrive mode, the 296 GTS’s plug-in hybrid (PHEV) system gives it a range of 25 km. It can speed up from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, and it will take 7.6 seconds to reach 200 km/h. The fastest the supercar can go is 330 kmph. The 8-speed F1 DCT gearbox is in charge of transmission.
The hardtop Ferrari 296 GTB’s sibling, the convertible Ferrari 296 GTB, is almost the same as the hardtop version. It only has minor styling changes to suit the convertible roof. It only takes 14 seconds to open or close the roof, which is made of two pieces that fold over the front of the engine. This can be done at speeds of up to 45kph.
In a separate move, Ferrari stopped making the Portofino M to make room for the Roma Spider, which is now the brand’s entry-level roadster. Road & Track said that the entry-level hardtop convertible will no longer be made. It will be replaced by the Roma Spider, which, unlike the Portofino M, has a standard fabric roof.
