2026 Lexus ES India Launch on March 20: New Design, High-Tech Interior and Hybrid Power

Lexus ES is set to enter its next generation in India, with the official launch scheduled for March 20, 2026. The updated luxury sedan brings a completely new design language, a more technology-focused interior and updated electrified powertrains.

Positioned in the midsize luxury sedan segment, the new ES will continue to compete with rivals such as the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series LWB and Audi A4 in India.

2026 Lexus ES: Sharper and More Futuristic Exterior

The new generation ES moves away from the traditional Lexus styling cues and adopts a sleeker and more futuristic design approach.

At the front, the sedan features distinctive Z-shaped LED lighting elements that integrate both the daytime running lights and turn indicators. The primary headlamp units are positioned slightly lower and are partially hidden behind vertical gloss-black trim pieces, giving the front fascia a layered appearance.

Another major change is the removal of Lexus’ signature spindle grille. Instead, the front bumper houses a compact lower air intake, surrounded by geometric diamond-pattern detailing that enhances the modern aesthetic.

From the side, the sedan looks sportier thanks to a sloping coupe-like roofline and a prominent character line running across the doors. This crease is accentuated by gloss-black trim elements, while the new alloy wheel designs add to the car’s premium appeal.

At the rear, the ES now gets a full-width LED light bar featuring illuminated LEXUS branding. Beneath it are subtle L-shaped sculpted lines finished with chrome accents, giving the sedan a more distinctive tail design.

Larger Dimensions Than the Previous ES

The new ES has grown significantly in size compared to the outgoing model.

  • 165mm longer overall length

  • 55mm wider body

  • 110–115mm taller height

  • Wheelbase increased by 80mm

These changes are expected to translate into improved rear seat comfort and enhanced cabin space, which has always been one of the ES’s strong points.

Minimalist Interior With Larger Displays

Inside, the new ES adopts a cleaner and more minimalist dashboard layout, replacing many traditional buttons with digital controls.

The centerpiece of the cabin is a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system that integrates multiple vehicle functions and supports over-the-air (OTA) updates. Several controls on the centre console are now touch-capacitive, contributing to the modern look.

Despite the digital shift, the three-spoke steering wheel retains physical buttons for key functions. Interestingly, Lexus has replaced the traditional “L” logo with spelled-out LEXUS lettering on the steering wheel.

Key Features

The upcoming ES is expected to offer a long list of premium features, including:

  • 12.3-inch digital driver’s display

  • Mark Levinson premium sound system

  • Electrochromic panoramic glass roof

  • Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS)

  • Boss mode for rear seat comfort

  • Powered front seats with memory function

  • Reclining rear seats

Lexus also claims improved cabin refinement through better door sealing and high sound-insulation glass for the front doors, which should further reduce noise and vibrations inside the cabin.

Hybrid Powertrain Expected for India

The new ES will be offered globally with both hybrid and fully electric powertrains. However, for India, Lexus is most likely to introduce the hybrid version first, continuing the strategy used with the current ES.

Hybrid Options (Global)

The new ES hybrid lineup includes:

  • ES 300h – 2.0-litre petrol hybrid (197hp)

  • ES 300h – 2.5-litre petrol hybrid (201hp)

  • ES 350h – 2.5-litre petrol hybrid (247hp)

All hybrid variants use an e-CVT automatic transmission and are available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive depending on the configuration.

Lexus ES Electric Variants

Lexus has also introduced fully electric versions of the ES globally.

  • ES 350e – 224hp, single-motor FWD, up to 685km range (CLTC)

  • ES 550e – 343hp, dual-motor AWD, up to 610km range (CLTC)

Performance figures are respectable as well, with 0–100km/h times of 8.9 seconds for the 350e and 5.9 seconds for the more powerful 550e.

However, Lexus has not yet confirmed whether these EV variants will be introduced in India.

Expected Price in India

The current ES is priced between ₹72 lakh and ₹79 lakh (on-road) depending on the variant. The new generation model is expected to carry a slight premium due to its larger size, updated technology and improved features.

Conclusion

The upcoming 2026 Lexus ES represents a major evolution for Lexus’ popular luxury sedan. With its bold new styling, larger dimensions, tech-rich interior and electrified powertrain options, the new ES aims to strengthen its position in India’s premium sedan segment.

With the official India launch scheduled for March 20, 2026, the new ES will soon take on established rivals like the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, BMW 3 Series LWB and Audi A4 with a fresh blend of luxury, technology and efficiency.
