Fifteen-year-old Shane Chandaria has etched his name into Indian motorsport history by securing the 2025 F4 India Championship, becoming the youngest driver ever to win the title. The championship was decided at the season-ending round held at the Madras International Circuit (MIC), Chennai.
Chandaria Seals Title with Race to Spare
Heading into the final weekend with a commanding 24-point advantage, Chandaria put himself in a strong position early on. Starting Race 1 from pole position, the young driver finished second, trailing Sachel Rotge to the chequered flag. That result was enough to mathematically secure the championship with one race still to run.
Completing a memorable outing for Chennai Turbo Riders, Chandaria’s teammate Veer Sheth finished third in the race, delivering a double-podium finish for the team.
Reverse-Grid Drama in Season Finale
Although the title was already wrapped up, Chandaria remained fully focused in the final race of the season. Due to the reverse-grid format, both he and Rotge started from the back of the field. The duo carved their way through the pack with a series of bold overtakes, with Rotge finishing second and Chandaria claiming third.
The final victory of the 2025 season went to 16-year-old Luviwe Sambudla, rounding off an action-packed championship finale.
Chennai Turbo Riders Secure Teams’ Championship
Chandaria’s consistent performances throughout the season played a pivotal role in Chennai Turbo Riders clinching the 2025 F4 India Teams’ Championship. In the overall driver standings, Sachel Rotge finished runner-up, while Indian racer Ishaan Madesh secured third place.
Record-Breaking Rookie Season
The 2025 campaign has been nothing short of extraordinary for Chandaria. Earlier in the season, he became the youngest race winner and youngest polesitter in F4 India history, while also making headlines as the first Kenyan driver to win a race in the championship.
Now, he adds another milestone by finishing the year as the youngest F4 India champion.
Super Licence Points Boost
By winning the championship, Chandaria also collects 12 valuable FIA Super Licence points. Drivers need a minimum of 40 points to qualify for a Super Licence, a mandatory requirement to compete in Formula 1, placing the young talent firmly on the global single-seater ladder.
