Jeep Grand Cherokee Signature Edition Launched at ₹69.04 Lakh

Jeep has introduced a special Signature Edition of its flagship SUV, the Grand Cherokee, priced at ₹69.04 lakh (ex-showroom). This limited-run variant is positioned above the Grand Cherokee Limited (O) trim and carries a premium of ₹1.54 lakh. The Signature Edition enhances the package with added comfort, tech, and safety features, while retaining the same mechanical underpinnings.

What’s New in the Grand Cherokee Signature Edition?

One of the most practical upgrades is the addition of motorised side steps, which improve ease of ingress and egress – especially useful given the SUV’s tall stance. For rear-seat entertainment, Jeep has equipped the cabin with dual 11.6-inch Android-based touchscreens, each featuring built-in speakers and support for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and AUX inputs.

To boost safety and convenience further, integrated front and rear dash cameras are now standard, offering added surveillance and peace of mind for occupants.

No Mechanical Changes

Under the hood, the Signature Edition remains unchanged from the Grand Cherokee Limited (O). It continues to be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine, producing 272hp and 400Nm of torque. Power is delivered through an 8-speed automatic gearbox and Jeep’s Quadra-Trac four-wheel drive system.

How It Stacks Up Against Rivals

The Jeep Grand Cherokee competes in the full-size luxury SUV space with notable rivals such as:

  • Volvo XC90 – ₹1.04 crore (7-seater)

  • Range Rover Velar – ₹87.90 lakh (5-seater)

  • Mercedes-Benz GLE – ₹1.02 crore to ₹1.11 crore (5-seater)

  • Audi Q7 – ₹90.48 lakh to ₹99.81 lakh (7-seater)

  • BMW X5 – ₹97.80 lakh to ₹1.13 crore (5-seater)

While the Grand Cherokee, Velar, GLE, and X5 are designed as 5-seaters, the Audi Q7 and Volvo XC90 offer third-row seating for up to 7 passengers.

Verdict

The Jeep Grand Cherokee Signature Edition builds on the already feature-rich Limited (O) trim, adding meaningful tech, comfort, and safety upgrades for a moderate premium. It may not be as expensive or as high on badge value as some of its European rivals, but it makes a strong case for buyers looking for a well-equipped, capable 5-seat luxury SUV.
