2025 Maruti Eeco Updated Now Comes with Six Standard Airbags, Revised Seating Options

Maruti Suzuki has refreshed the Eeco MPV for the 2025 model year with a focus on enhancing safety and comfort. Among the most notable upgrades is the inclusion of six airbags as standard across all variants—a significant improvement from the previous two-airbag setup.

Safety Takes the Front Seat

With rising safety standards and customer expectations, Maruti Suzuki has been gradually upgrading its lineup, and the Eeco is the latest model to follow suit. Now equipped with six airbags, the Eeco also features three-point seatbelts for all passengers, with the front seats benefiting from seatbelt pre-tensioners and force limiters.

Additional safety features continue to include ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), electronic stability control, and seatbelt reminders for front occupants.

Revised Seating Layouts: Goodbye 7-Seater, Hello Captain Seats

The 7-seat configuration, which was popular in earlier models, has been discontinued. In its place, Maruti has introduced two new 6-seater versions that incorporate captain seats in the second row, aiming to boost comfort for middle-row passengers. Meanwhile, the 5-seater variants remain unchanged and continue to be part of the lineup.

Design Remains Familiar, Subtle Interior Updates

While the exterior remains the same—with signature halogen headlamps, vertical tail-lamps, and 13-inch steel wheels—the interior has received subtle tweaks. The most noticeable changes are updated roof liners and new pillar trims, both of which accommodate the enhanced airbag system.

Other updates include a switch from PVC to fabric upholstery, and outboard reclining front seats—replacing the earlier inboard setup. In 5-seater models, the boot now gets a luggage retention feature designed to reduce movement of cargo during sudden braking or collisions.

Engine and Fuel Updates: Now E20-Compatible

The Eeco retains its 1.2-litre petrol engine that delivers 80hp and comes paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The motor is now compliant with E20 fuel standards, aligning with recent government policies to promote ethanol-blended fuels.

For those seeking better fuel economy, the CNG variant—producing 70hp—is still available, though only in the 5-seat version. The new 6-seat configurations are limited to the petrol-powered drivetrain.
