Nissan is set to introduce a CNG variant of the Magnite by April this year, following in the footsteps of its sibling, the Renault Kiger. Sources confirm that the CNG conversion will be available as a dealer-level accessory, similar to the Renault models, including the Kiger, Kwid, and Triber.
Nissan Magnite CNG: What to Expect?
- Engine & Performance: The CNG kit will be compatible exclusively with the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a manual gearbox. While official power and torque figures are yet to be disclosed, fuel efficiency is expected to range between 18-22 km per kg.
- Warranty & Documentation: Nissan will retain its standard 3-year/1,00,000 km vehicle warranty, while dealers will provide an additional 1-year warranty for the CNG kit. Additionally, registration certificates (RC) will be updated to reflect the CNG conversion.
- Pricing & Availability: The Renault Kiger’s CNG kit costs ₹79,500 over its base trim, and a similar pricing strategy is anticipated for the Magnite. The kits will be sourced from Uno Minda Group, though it remains unclear whether they will be available across all variants or select trims.
Nissan has yet to release an official statement regarding the launch.
Rising Demand for CNG Vehicles in India
The Indian CNG car market witnessed a remarkable 35% year-on-year growth, with 7,15,213 units sold last year. Maruti Suzuki dominates the segment with a 71.6% market share, followed by Tata Motors (16.13%), Hyundai (10.04%), and Toyota (2.21%).
As CNG gains traction among buyers, Honda and Renault have recently introduced dealer-fitted CNG kits, with Nissan set to join the trend. The addition of a CNG variant could make the Magnite an even more appealing choice in the compact SUV segment.
