Renault has launched CNG variants for its popular models – Kwid, Triber, and Kiger – in India. Unlike factory-fitted CNG options offered by Maruti Suzuki, Tata, and Hyundai, Renault is providing the CNG kits as a retrofitment while ensuring compliance with safety and performance standards. These kits come with a three-year warranty, adding value for buyers.
However, only manual variants (excluding turbocharged and automatic models) are eligible for the CNG conversion. Deliveries will begin in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Uttar Pradesh in a phased manner.
Renault CNG Pricing and Mileage
- Renault Kwid CNG: ₹75,000 premium over petrol variants (₹5.44 lakh – ₹6.74 lakh)
- Renault Triber CNG: ₹79,500 premium (₹6.89 lakh – ₹9.25 lakh)
- Renault Kiger CNG: ₹79,500 premium (₹6.89 lakh – ₹10.79 lakh)
An insider source from Renault claims that fuel efficiency has increased by 1.5 times compared to petrol versions, with no impact on performance. However, the official mileage figures are yet to be disclosed.
Renault Kwid CNG – Features and Competition

- Reverse parking camera
- Dual airbags & TPMS
- Hill start assist
The Kwid CNG directly competes with the Maruti Alto K10 CNG (starting at ₹5.83 lakh).
Renault Triber CNG – Features and Segment Advantage
The Renault Triber CNG uses a 72hp, 1.0L engine, offering a seven-seater layout with impressive space. Expected mileage is around 19 kmpl. Key features include:
- 7-inch digital driver’s display

- 6-way adjustable driver’s seat

With no direct competitor in the sub-4m MPV segment, the Triber CNG remains a unique offering.
Renault Kiger CNG – Features and Rivals
The Renault Kiger CNG shares its 72hp engine with the Triber but offers a slightly better mileage of 19.17 kmpl. It comes with:
- Three drive modes
- 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Wireless phone charger
- Four airbags & traction control
The Kiger CNG competes with the Tata Nexon CNG (starting at ₹9 lakh), which features a turbo petrol-CNG engine.
Renault’s CNG Strategy in India
While brands like Maruti Suzuki, Tata, and Hyundai offer factory-fitted CNG, Renault has opted for a dealership-fitted approach similar to Honda’s strategy with the Amaze CNG. This ensures flexibility while maintaining performance and safety standards.
As demand for CNG vehicles rises due to lower running costs, Renault’s move is expected to strengthen its foothold in the Indian market.
