Kawasaki has introduced the Versys 1100 in India, priced at ₹12.90 lakh. The new model replaces the Versys 1000 and commands a ₹71,000 premium over its predecessor. This launch follows the debut of the Ninja 1100SX, with which it shares its powertrain.
At its heart, the Versys 1100 features a 1,099cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine, identical to the Ninja 1100SX, delivering 135hp at 9,000rpm and 112Nm at 7,600rpm. The engine is paired with a revised 6-speed gearbox, featuring taller fifth and sixth gears to enhance highway cruising.
Structurally, the Versys 1100 mirrors the outgoing Versys 1000, retaining its chassis and feature set. It weighs 257kg with a full 21-litre fuel tank—19kg heavier than the Ninja 1100SX. The seat height remains at 820mm, while ground clearance is slightly improved to 150mm.
Kawasaki offers a range of accessories, including integrated panniers, a bidirectional quickshifter, protective add-ons, a taller windscreen, and a touring seat. Deliveries are set to commence by the end of the month.
In terms of pricing, the Versys 1100 is positioned between the BMW F 900 XR (₹12.55 lakh) and the Triumph Tiger 900 GT (₹13.95 lakh). Notably, while the previous Versys 1000 was priced slightly above the Ninja 1000SX, the new Versys 1100 is ₹59,000 more affordable than the Ninja 1100SX.
