Tata Harrier EV Unveiled in Production Form at Auto Expo 2025

Tata Motors has officially debuted the production-ready Harrier EV at the Auto Expo 2025, following its initial concept reveal at the 2023 edition of the event. Built on a significantly reworked version of its internal combustion engine (ICE) platform, the Harrier EV introduces advanced features and an electrified twist to the popular SUV. A standout moment of the unveiling was the car’s autonomous roll-out onto the stage, demonstrating Tata’s new ‘Summon’ functionality.

Design and Features: A Familiar Yet Electrified Look

While the Harrier EV retains much of its ICE sibling’s design, several EV-specific elements distinguish it. The grille, along with the front and rear bumpers, features a fresh design with aerodynamic enhancements. New dual-tone, aero-optimized alloy wheels and ‘.EV’ badges on the doors and tailgate emphasize its electric identity.

The showcased model, dubbed the “Stealth Edition,” sported a striking matte black finish, reinforcing the brand’s preference for bold aesthetics. This design approach mirrors Tata’s strategy seen in models like the Nexon EV and Curvv EV.

Inside, the Harrier EV shares much of its layout with the ICE version but introduces modern touches like a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, a touch-sensitive HVAC control panel, and advanced connected-car features. Additionally, the SUV includes vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, updated terrain modes, and over-the-air software updates, reflecting its focus on technology and versatility.

Platform, Performance, and Specs

Underpinning the Harrier EV is Tata’s Gen 2 Acti.ev architecture—a heavily electrified version of the Land Rover-derived Omega platform. For the first time in Tata’s lineup, the Harrier EV boasts an all-wheel-drive system, achieved through dual motors on each axle. While full specifications remain under wraps, Tata has confirmed a peak torque of 500Nm.

Expected Pricing and Competition

Set to rival upcoming models like the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and Maruti eVitara, the Harrier EV is expected to carry a price tag between ₹25 lakh and ₹30 lakh (ex-showroom). With an official launch timeline aimed for March 2025, this EV marks another step forward in Tata Motors’ ambitious electrification roadmap.
